Opinions on this book please

I applaud his efforts and hope that this book is well received in its intended market.

I would particularly like it if all apa players read it and they all became 7s. Oh the humanity!

Do you think the point cap would be raised if that happened?

I played in the same area as Mike for years. He wrote some articles for Billiards Digest I believe. Nice guy and it seemed like he was a good writer - I never paid attention to the articles - cause I never played much 8 ball.
Last time I played him, he didn't get to shoot much :D that's been probably 15yrs ago or more. I could see where he would be a good teacher though.

Read the Amazon reviews.
The book also talks about gambling, I wasn't gonna say anything until I read that in the review

- one of his methods he uses in gambling is to talk(at work) like he can beat you playing even, then when you call him out he needs weight. So we finally agree and I give him 2 games race to 7 for $300. I win the flip and put a 5 on him, break dry and he gets out. He breaks dry and I finish the set.

Then he wines about playing my game(9ball), so we switch to 8ball - I have him like 4 - 2 when he starts whining about being tired yada yada, I tell him I'd been up all night in the middle of a 3way(yes 2 girls) and haven't slept at all:grin: so, I let him out of the second set and he stiffs me on the $$$.

It took months and I had to accept a dealers case as payment which he got at a big discount - but it was better than nothing and I picked it out. Lol

Maybe he will read this and challenge me to a rematch - gonna add a zero and make him post if he does:thumbup:

So, there may be some fantastic gambling advice in there lol might buy it myself ;)

I have an old VHS video called Mastering Bar Table 8 Ball by Michael Imler. Has to be at least 20 years old.

Jeez he sounds just like a pool player...

What's the difference between a pizza and a pool player?
A pizza can feed a family of four!

I don't play APA, but since when is an APA 7 a Master player?
Since 7 is as high as the scale goes? I'm reminded of the amp in Spinal Tap. We should start a league that goes to 11.

Different leagues have different definitions of what a master level player is. There are some 7s who are Open players in BCA and some of them are Grand Masters.....

The best league I have played in for 8 ball is NAPA. You never max out on your handicap so the races just get tougher and tougher. If I am playing someone who is a lower end APA 7, the race could be something like 7-4.
