OPinions...

For a standard maple non laminated, I like Schon shafts, and ofcourse Ray Shuler, laminated, Between OB-1 and Predator? Tiger Products? Im not sure, Ive only tried Predator 314 and second generation 314-2 out of those two I like the second generation better. It is thicker however, so take this into consideration, good for me but if you prefere a smaller shaft the Z series predator shafts may be better. I play with neither, and obviously not much help..

You are going to get a ton of responses recommending everything from OB1, 314, etc, etc and it probably will confuse you more.

A wise old sage once told me not to get wrapped up in all the hype of the new shafts etc and to just let your cue become a part of you. The rest will fall into place. If not, I think there are a few polls in the archives. :D Here's a pretty good one.

Good Luck,
Craig

The one that's on Shane's cue.............(had to put that in)

Like to play with the shaft that came with the cue. I'm a big fan of stiff shafts with 13mm tips and LBM ferrules. I don't like Aegis or Ivorine, as they turn blue too fast. If I was to choose low deflection, I would go with the 314-2. Has the best feel of the low deflection shafts with the best performance.

This the best advice so far. I prefer a shaft that doesn't miss. Damned if I've ever found one though. (edit) Seriously, Keith Josey must have access to some very good maple...the shafts on the cue I bought from him are VERY smooooth, tight grain...darned good out of the box feel. He uses talisman tips.

If your a beginner I would definitly go with the preditor z2 or ob-1 shaft. It is not hype! These shafts due what they say, no compinsation needed when using english. If you learn with regular maple shaft I would stay with that.. JMO.

Speaking of using english :D:D:D:D:D

Heavy shaft made from Hard Maple. Jack Maddens shafts in particular, he knows how to taper them, that is for sure!

A good 25 year old 13mm Szam shaft, a new Barry Szam shaft and a Suragtree shaft. In no order I like them all the same some shafts are better than others,

What this cat said, my new Madden's shafts are a nice amber color and about 4.2 - 4.5 oz
