I met a lot fo Filipinoes and they speak quite decent English and not Spanish. They said that after the Spaniards lost the war to the Americans, the Americans occupy Philippines which was then Spanish speaking. So the Americans brainwashed the Filipinoes that whoever speak english are highly educated. And Americans replaced Spanish in school to english as major teaching language. So the next generations lost their touch in Spanish and start to speak english. Well that's what they said which was also told to them by their grandfathers. And Billiards came and baseball and baketball etc.

There is some truth to that. The decline of Spanish language really has something to do with our distaste of the Castillians. My grandparents didn't not even bother to speak a single syllable of Spanish to their kids and grandchildren.

Going back to billiards, blame the American GIs for bringing pool to the Philippines. ;)

Cant remember during my studying years that we were invaded by the Britons or if ever they came? I think that is not true. Ever met a Filipino with English Accent? not even a single trace of english culture in Filipino culture.

Originally, Filipinos were Aetas, black people, the one that look like africans, but a little shorter, we still have these people in the north of the Philippines. Then the indons came followed by the malays. You see the Filipinos are mix of this 3 breeds. The spanish came, defeated by americans, americans left, japanese came, americans are back and they left us again. and you're right, from the time that the malays came until now, chinese continue to do transactions with Filipinos.

with Orcullo and Yang, both are asians, geographically.

LOL, just go to Intramuros, you'll see the shortest British occupation ever. I think 1 month. The Brits sneaked in while the Spain was busy with the Muslims down South, but then the Chinese Imperial army was rumored to be on their way to invade Philippines, so Spain put all their forces back up North. The Brits didn't put up a fight.

Don't forget Alex. He's the only one who might actually have a chance.

I do not think that the home court advantage works for the Filipinos. They do play better when they are outside their country. Less distractions and more important, less pressure. Can you imagine the pressure that Dennis will be experiencing considering that all his countrymen are expecting him to win?

Yang will win, because Yang was the 2005 Philppines Open winner, but I have never heard Orcollo win any internateional tour in the Philippines. By the way, Yang refused to play the money game during 2006 WPC doesn't mean he tried to hide from Orcollo. In fact, Orcollo is not famous in taiwan - espceially he is always eliminated by taiwanese palyers in WPC (2003,2004,2005).

I'll make a standing $10,000 bet on Dennis any time he plays any non filipino even in 9-Ball or Ten Ball. And I didn't stutter.

Any time he has a match like this, if anyone wants to bet, they can meet me at the site and post the money. And if you're from Taiwan, you are not barred.

better start watching money games !

Liany, actually Yang really hid from Orcullo as witnessed and confirmed by most pool players present during that time (2006 WPC) . Yang was waiting for an opponent on a table then suddenly dennis showed up. right at that instant, Yang hurriedly packed up his things along with the gang. Oh and by the way, don't state a fact when you are not sure that it is really a fact and just basing it on pure fanatical reason. how come you know orcullo is always eliminated by taiwanese players during his stints in the WPC 2003-05 if he weren't famous in taiwan? why don't you ask KUO, CHAO , YANG, WU, HSIA if they don't know who Orcullo is and why do they avoid to play him whenever he comes to visit Taiwan for some money game action if he is an unknown just as what you are saying that he is? just to be fair, just ask Yang himself if this was true or was it only an urban legend or you can ask Chao who was also his companion during that time. by the way, Orcullo is the 2006 World Pool League Champion. better read some facts about the guy and stop nuthuggin Yang too much. it's unhealthy. :D

Satisfaction is hard to come by these days...;)

I'm not sure if your account of Yang's fearful retreat can be considered "fact," but I think it's fair to say that Yang and Orcullo have a healthy mutual respect for each other's game.

It's ok Roger, that's why I said if liany got the time, he could ask Yang personally. :D by the way, in case you didn't know, just for info. both of them "yang and orcullo" played a money game one time in taiwan ( why does it sounds like that I'm rhyming? :D ). heard that yang lost a big deal of $$$ during that encounter. so I think it's just natural or common for players to develop a certain degree of intimidation. I came to know this thru my cousin who lives in taiwan. ;) . Alex also lost to Orcullo during a money game before he won the WPC in 2004. Alex disclosed this during an interview " he commented and was heard saying the he was using the purse to pay some debt". I didn't know that Alex owed Orcullo some money then. not until when Alex later elaborated in an another interview of how he became indebted. If I can recall correctly, it's worth half the purse. ooouucccchhhh, that's a lot of money  .
