Where does the first case open. I cant see a seam for the lid....if there is one???
It opens about 7" from the top. On this one the seam came out really well, almost invisible.
Forgot to mention, for the Ostrich butterfly above we did a custom interior, green velvet. We worked on about 20 versions before settling on this one. It has become the standard interior for all of our butterfly cases.
This is the advantage to having a shop like ours, we are not limited to any set pattern. We can experiment and we do.

That velvet is very nice.
Thanks Allen. We have used velvet a few times and it is very elegant. Not being tied to one type of case and because we make the whole case in-house we have the flexibility to change anything on our cases to suit the customer.

Thanks Ray. Ostrich actually has a really neat feel to it. This was a great case to do. But it was also a pain since we had to smooth out the back side a lot. The flesh side had a lot of pilling, there is a particular term for this for Ostrich skins but I forgot what it is. Anyway it consisted of balls of fibers that we had to remove in order to make the back side flat so that it would lay down smoothly on the shell.
With GTF cases the skin is glued to the body so there isn't any room to make a mistake. It's really hard to remove leather once it's been glued and have it be useful again for a case like this. So you really get one shot to get it right or you have wasted several hundred dollars in leather and prep time.

really nice case
i am tempted,i have had around 10 ostrich cases
and i love them,but holding on to them has proved difficult
to actually hold one and feel it is to buy it
kinda like when a dog followed you home from school
once mother saw it,she forgot all that talk about
we will never have another puppy
