I have heard of Gabriels. I'd love to know what the price is on this table, I can't find a price anywhere.

Any other tables that are worthy to be mentioned with a Gold Crown or a Diamond Pro?

JOBs in Nashvile has or had Kasson tables. Pockets were a little smaller than usual with more parallel facings. I thought they were pretty good. But they have tack in pockets, which cost me a bunch of money once when I shot a hanger and it hit the pocket and stopped cause the tacks had come out and the rubber was all in the way. But I like the shape of the pockets.

Kassons were used in at least one WPBA tournament I saw and I know the ones in Nashville have been used in pro mens tournaments. I didn't hear anybody complaining about them, except me, cause the tack came out. I've forgotten all about that now, can you tell? lol

would you say that Kassons are tacky? :p

Kim Steels are no longer made but you might find a deal on one in good shape and they play excellent if set up right.

I've played on Rebco's and Peter Vitalie tables that played well but I don't know about their re-sale value.

Get a Diamond. You can always sell it for a good price if its in good shape so you won't lose too much money. Although it seems rare to find any Diamonds out here on the West Coast for sale.

Check your local Craigslist.com. Seems like every week someone is just giving away a table for free, and there are plenty of deals on tables like Olhausens with accu-fast cushions for less than a grand.

Someone had a nice condition poker table top/bumper pool table made of oak for 50 bucks awhile back. Too late again...just like the 600 dollars worth of Titlist drivers (4! from 2007-2008!)some lady sold for 100 bucks last week. @#$%^&!!

in all reality, i'll probably be buying a Diamond, but i'd still like to know what's out there and what compares.

I forgot about Connelly's, they are nice tables.

My #1 concern, BY FAR, is playability and everything i've ever read and experienced tells me Diamonds. I do really love to play on a Gold Crown though.

Don't bother looking past the Diamond. If setup properly you will not find a better playing table than the Diamond, especially for the money. I may seem biased, but I did give all other tables their due process before deciding on my Diamond Pro. I would have preferred the Diamond Pro Am, but it wasn't available to me at the time I was buying. Oh well, maybe for the next house.

While most listed here are good tables, neither Connelly nor Vitalie makes a competition table. Not necessarily anything wrong with that, but the lack of weight and typically narrower rail might not be what you are looking for. The Gandys have super big pockets, and cannot really be shimmed without compromising the rail around the pocket. It really needs a rail extension made if you even think about playing one pocket. The Kim Steels are good, but a pain in the ass to work on, and most mechanics don't do well with them. The diamond is the obvious choice, but another good one is to look at craig's list or some other avenue for just about any older Brunswick. The older anniversaries or Centennials play as good as anything if they are redone. They also have large-ish pockets, but shimming isn't as bad on these, and even with rail extensions and the cost of redoing with simonis are usually 1-2k cheaper. Nothing in the world wrong with ANY gold Crown or Diamond, just usually a little more $.

Kasson Pro's are very good tables, when I opened my pool room in 2004, I purchased seven 9ft and two 8ft Kassons. These tables were used for Televised Pro matches during the Mid-1990's. The cut of the pockets is very similar to the Diamond tables, they are deep and the slate extends back farther than a Gold Crown. The tables I purchased came with Italian three piece slate that was one inch thick. The pockets were cut to an opening of 4 5/8 of an inch for the corners, and 5 inches for the sides from the factory. I have since double shimmed one of the tables to 4 1/4 inch Corner pocket openings for playing one pocket, and they are tough tables. The frames are made from Laminated Maple that is finger jointed, and so are the rails, except the rails have a laminated surface that comes in a variety of wood colors,

The tables I purchased have held up great for commercial use over the last four years. I have had no problems what so ever with the construction or the rubber used. I think they are a great table for the money, and best of all they are completely American made.

Take Care, hope this helps.

Gabriels are distributed by Diamond.

The tables used to be welded, but now come in pieces and bolt together like a regular table, making them easier to move into rooms.

Gabriels

I have a used Gabriels and light for sale. Won't fit in my new house. It is set up, but I hate bumping walls. Very solid table.

How about California-based JM Billiards?

Connelly's have been used in many pro events in the recent past. Connelly makes a fine table. I have had a Connelly. They can be purchased and are reasonably priced at Universal Billiards.

Connelly's only have a two inch slate for the "Ultimate" option. Trust me, I used to sell them. Having said that, they play great. I was simply trying to say that they are furniture tables, with an exception or two loke the tombstone, which is actually a kiddie table, not a competition. I wasn't trying to knock them. They are like a better version of Olhausen, they just don't make a competition table. To be honest, they would be my first choice for a furniture table.Sorry for any confusion.
