Outsville......... Q and A: Everything Pool.....

How much for the towel ?

Towel is $16... Hats are $20 and the Shirt are $28-$37 depending on sex and size... we go up to 4xl and tall is available... Used an online tool to mock the designs up but they will be done in a local mom and pop shop so as soon as the logos are digitized I will try and get some samples done of each and replace the mock ups.....

while I have only been a customer for 1 1/2 years, your business mind set has been exemplary! and having just tried the "blue" color great white.....that may be the best chalk ever made.... expect a bunch of orders from Georgia as every one of my player buddies want it! thanks again for all that you do to try and help us with that "magic wand"!

We sold out of blue in 2 days at the Open and again at TAP Nationals... The feedback has been great and I appreciate the kind words.....

So do I understand correctly that KiTech tips are made from other retail single layer leather tips that are chemically treated and then mechanically formed/pressed?

Actually if you have followed us on Facebook or been by our booth at an event you would know that we do indeed use existing tips as our starting point for the Ki-Techs...

Basically we will at some point acquire the equipment to punch our own but it's expensive and large... My 22 ton press might be able to manage but it is hydraulic and it would be very slow and I would need to fabricate some fixtures.... Doing our own would cut our costs so it is on the to do list going forward....

Basically what you have in cow is mineral tanned, chrome tanned and vegetable tanned... We recycle each tip differently based on the type of leather it is before we go back with elastomers and hardeners to create the hardness and spring rate we want for each grade.

The best thing to call our tips are hybrids.. At least that is what Royce at OB and I refer to them most often when we talk as they are a hybrid between leather and synthetic..... as the chemical compounds and not the leather are most responsible for their characteristics... This is why our tips can be the same leather type as another single layered but have totally different playing characteristics and grab......

For our soft we can use the elk master or any of 4-5 other tips as a starting point since when we are done breaking them down all we care about is the leather type as the different tanning types produce different fibrosity which is key to being able to adjust spring rates/hardness/sound......

That's about as detailed as I can get... We have been working on our processes for 4 years and I promise I have learned more ways to not make a tip than the ways that work the best to ensure our tips come out consistent and hold up over the life cycle.....

Sorry I didn't intend for the tone of my post to be ridiculing or accusatory. I caught up on Facebook. Very interesting stuff you guys are doing!

No worries.. I didn't notice any tone just a question... We answer them all the time at events because people want to know why we are different....

2016 we intend to do way more events than we have been doing to get in front of more people... Pool is a strange industry and most people learn about new things is word of mouth.... That's why we answer questions as honestly as we can..

Also for Christmas in addition to hats and shirts we are releasing a 10ball dedicated template to go with the SOLO and Diamond 9... They are using them this weekend at Drexeline and will be using the in New Jersey at the Accu-Stats Invitational in December.....

We are working on an interactive map that shows installers but it keeps moving to the back of the line so it's not an easy question to answer.. I have one person who requested the DC Area thru email and that was Vyc Carolino but I do not have contact information in the database just a marker to put him on DC.. I will see if I can find anything else

how toxic are the chalk dust

Hi Chris,

I got a dumb question for you. How toxic are the chalk? I usually grab a sandwich while playing, should I go and wash my hands first before eating?

Thanks.

Hahah good point.....

The Great White is non-toxic... One of the things I have to be well aware of is long term exposure to anything we use in production as far as tips and chalk...

Being cosmetic grade everything we use has been tested, evaluated and approved for human use...

My old lab is under new ownership so I can't ask for lab work at cost any more... As soon as I find a place that is a little more modern we will likely have some tests done on most of the current chalks out. I am interested in the imports as Lead is still used as pigments in China.....

Just ordered some Mako Blue chalk from you. I look forward to the extra crunchy crystal loving.

Good Luck to ya,

Lesh
