Outsville......... Q and A: Everything Pool.....

Thanks Colin that is appreciated... I have been a fan of many of your posts for years and have been enjoying the recent discussion on outside vs inside...

I know some people here think I am only here to sell things but I was here before we even had a thought of making our first product and have always been a tinkerer and researcher.. That was the whole reason for the Q and A thread... I didn't want to make everyone feel like I was always trying to sell things but I didn't want to stop getting information and ideas out there.

I think everyone benefits from an educated consumer including our competition except for the guys that are trying to sneak in the back door with knock offs with brand new names.. Watching people buying pigs in polks has never made me happy....

The one thing I find AZ invaluabe for is feedback.. Since we make things we can always make improvements on the fly.. Sometimes I think it would be way easier to place a monthly order than start a monthly run.. The thing is I love the R&D phase and process/product improvements so I am where I think I need to be...

I've been addicted to this game and have tried to be a student of it for over 30 years now... I hope to be healthy and keep playing for another 30.....

Chris

Hi Chris,

Your passion is beyond doubt imho. Thanks for the kind words, but I'm in awe of the depth of your understanding of various subjects of equipment development and care, as they relate to billiard sports.

I remember shaping a tip out of a Superball many years ago and only in recent days I learned a lot about why that didn't work from you. My familiarity with materials science and hooke's law hadn't connected as it might have.

I hope the Q&A's in this thread lead to a book/let, perhaps pdf format as a guide to table/cue/ equipment care & use. I know a lot of enthusiasts who would love to read this info who don't have the inclination to read through threads to sort the wheat from the chaff.

I'm very libertarian minded, so rarely rush to judgement on anyone trying to sell something, but your approach, which provides insights we rarely encounter, and which invites consumer critique and questioning is especially satisfying.

I will be buying and testing and referring your products here in Australia if only for the opportunity to be part of your experiments to improve pool products and I've little doubt that some of these products will become hits!

Cheers,
Colin

We are now in the process of signing up installers/repairmen as authorized installers and creating state by state listings... This is the next step we need to take to go into any OEM deals with Cue Makers... We won't get to distributors until after this phase of growth... We have to have excess capacity before we move into the next step...

hopefully "Ozone Billiards" in Kennesaw ga (NW Atlanta) is one of them....many pool shooters are shopping at their new showroom and they sometimes support pool tournaments nationally too. I was at Marietta billiard club last night for a 14.1 match and as soon as I walked in the door someone is asking me, "hey, what is the status on the chalk?" ...I told them they better get on the website today and order some.....they said they would order 3 or 4 "2-packs" ! )they wanted to borrow one of my cubes until they get their shipment.....:rotflmao1: no way in hell for that!

OK throwing this out there... I am torn between marketting our new blue chalk in the Great White labels or going ahead with printing the Blue Mako labels... My thoughts are that we may do additional colors and that would mean new labels for every color change.. If I stick with Great White labels I can just refer to the colors as Great White, Blue Mako and maybe say "Money" if we do Green.... IF everyone thinks the Mako labels should be a go I will likely do a limited run of 50 Magnetic sets of Blue in the Great White labels to generate the required revenue for having the Blue Mako labels done.. Will be minimum of 3 weeks from order until delivery on labels so that will be all the blue we release until September....

id stick with great white and then name the colors
it keeps the brand name constant so people understand its the same chalk just comes in different colors
and dont think each chalk is different
like masters does
my 2 cents

when you get the blue going, don't forget that you still owe me a cube of chalk. I had emailed you my mailing address upon your request and never got anything so do not know if it got lost in the mail or you got too busy, no matter, I will wait for the blue. your chalk is the "nuts"!

I agree. I wouldn't have a different brand name for each unless they actually use a different formula for the chalk. Otherwise it should be what he said ^^^.

Time for an update.....

The Accu-Rack Diamond 9 made it thru the US Open with flying colors.... We will be welcomed back next year... For every negative comment we had 5 that were positive... To me that means 2 things... It was a success but we have room to improve....

The professional players work every day to up their game and we can't sit back and not do the same.... The 2 major knocks we had were can we get it to lay flatter and can we go thinner.... We are on top of both request

Great White... The White Version now bows to noone... We fixed the production quality issues and we have a strong following... Depending on the tip and the chalking habits some players were still complaining of it being messy... Add to that that some events require chalk to match the cloth we released the Mako Blue version of great white... We sold out of Blue in 2 days at the Open.... We have been selling out every week so I was not surprised.... A piece of our chalk weighs 23 gm... A normal cube is 15 grams... You buy 2 of ours for 16 vs 30 for 1 of our honorable competition and it's 3 to 1 on weight......

Hammerhead Break/Jump tips... 8 months of money back guarantee on purchases and NO ONE has asked for their money back... It's faster than anything but a glass phenolic and it holds chalk so you can control it... Show me another break tip with a money back guarantee... I spent 4 years in R&D on this one... It's the best on the market and 2nd place is lapped....

Ki-Techs... We have installers around the country and keep adding more.... These I will put up against any of the layered tips...

We take traditional leather tips and break them down with chemical processes to raw fiber and then we go back with binders, elastomers and hardeners to create a hybrid tip that has properties mother nature rarely could put into a piece of leather.... A good install on a Ki-tech means you have a tip that will perform and play the same a year down the road the same way it played when you first had it installed.....

I did say we take traditional tips and break them down... Leather comes in 4 easy versions... Chrome, Mineral, Veg cow, Veg Buffalo.... I do not have room for the equipment yet to punch our own tips so we buy tips all around the world to reclaim the leather fibers so we can fat liquor them, bind them and chemically alter them... Our soft comes from 6 different suppliers but when we are done it is like none of them.....

A milk dud doesn't even come close to what we do but you CAN think of the Ki-Tech as a hi-tech milk dud but HYBRID is a better term because we keep looking for other bases than leather to use... The biggest part is QC.. All of our tips leave the shop like their brothers and sisters and the generation before... Our goal is for you to always be able to get the exact same tip you had before and we keep adding QC steps to make that happen..

Wow ran longer than I thought I would... Will go thru this quickly... We are now doing custom logos on the racks... Rooms, Events, Tours... Our next event will be the Accu-Stats 10ball Invitational in December.... If you need racks we give them to you... But we have other options that may add revenue to your room or event........

Last comment... We will have new products out for the holidays... Some will be fluff but several will have some substance....... I think I said somewhere along the way that we intend to be here a long time =)

Is there anyway that you can produce the hammerhead with just a little higher shoulder?

You gave me one of these in a trial run & you're right, this thing is the nuts, holds chalk well and I believe will improve just about anyone's break. If you already have a good break it will be better, the ball explodes off this tip. I've got a theory that control would improve with a little taller shoulder. Can you help a brother out?

while I have only been a customer for 1 1/2 years, your business mind set has been exemplary! and having just tried the "blue" color great white.....that may be the best chalk ever made.... expect a bunch of orders from Georgia as every one of my player buddies want it! thanks again for all that you do to try and help us with that "magic wand"!

The Renfro tried to send you private message it said you dont take private messages. It was nice meeting you during the cab ride to the pool room at the open last week. Thanks for picking up the fair. I used the chalk it is great I gave the rack kit to the pool room I think he will be ordering some for sale as well and I am giving him the chalk so as to allow other people to try it. I think he may order some of that as well. Press on see you down the road.

Christmas is fast approaching and we are partnering with a local apparel company to start offering Embroidered good and Screen Printed T-Shirts... We have Hats, Towels and Shirts up in the store... Would like to know what everyone would like to see next.... We are only able to do embroidered in time to get a spot to be able todo Christmas delivery but we will be adding more as we go... If I am lucky they will give me a 2nd spot on the calendar for t-shirts or different embroidery designs after our meeting Monday..... We will be sticking with Black, White and Royal Blue as those are our colors......

I just ordered the Great White blue and am looking forward to trying it.

I also ordered 4 tips,,,, any known Ki-Tech installers in the Washington DC area?

Thanks,
Tim

So do I understand correctly that KiTech tips are made from other retail single layer leather tips that are chemically treated and then mechanically formed/pressed?
