Over to Fanelli's today....

But before them all was the inventor of the butterfly splice...Al Gore.
WOW! I did not know that. Damn, he invented internet and the butterfly cue. :D

Juston, from what you described, I would bet you are mistaking Paul for someone else.
Paul has shared his knowledge here without anything in return or hot air.

hey murray.....the only other cues i have seen similiar to the fanellis was a guy selling some butterfly forearms....his name was bill webb i believe......thanks for the info....im gonna give him a shout......thanks all, juston

Juston-
Butterfly cuts are the signature (for lack of a better term) of a Paul Fanelli cue. He does them better than anyone else in the business (imo). But to say that you're pretty sure that he was the guy you contacted based on the look of a cue, and then to start badmouthing him is just not right and not fair. Paul Drexler, Ernie Gutierrez, Richard Black, Dave Barenbrugge (sp?), Travis Niklich (Black Creek)... all of the guys and a slew of others make butterfly cues. Don't just assume that because you saw butterflies that it was Paul Fanelli. Ironchef was probably right. It was probably Barenbrugge as, if I recall correctly, he does fill most of his orders for or through Lucky.

First..thanks to all for the support...and to Juston, thanks a bunch..like Larry said, my wife saw your first post and I now find myself on "Double Secret Probation" over my curt phone manner. My memory is no longer reliable, but I do recall that I talked to Juston on the phone, but nothing more. I may be accused of being short on conversation via telephone at times, but I couldn't have told anyone that my business is overseas and I'm not interested in making cues for US consumption. So, I'll take the weight for being short with Juston on the phone, I sometimes have a bad day myself. But the other stuff..must be someone else...you're only 99% positive, so theres room for doubt. Juston, call again and I promise not to abuse you unduly, my wife is now monitoring all my calls and poking me in the ribs, and sometimes lower, when she thinks I am being rude to a person that wants to give me (her) money.

There are many others that are doing or have done butterfly splice style cues; Don G. of DG Cues, Dave Barrenbruge thru Lucky, Bill Webb, Black, Mottey, and a lot more. But before them all was the inventor of the butterfly splice...Al Gore.

thanks again

paul

its a shame don isnt making cues right now after the accident. he made some great cues.

Stopped by Fanelli's shop/home today and again had a very enjoyable visit. Joe, your cue looks phenomenal, a real attention getter. Fred and Zack, I know you'll be happy with cues, excellent wood selections. I can't wait to get my cue, almost done! Cheers Paul!

I see how it is. Joe's cue looks "phenomenal" but Fred and I's don't, huh? We'll only be happy with our non-phenomenal cues...lol.

Whoops, what I meant to say is Zack's cue and Fred's cue are works in progress. They've made excellent wood selections (great minds think a like) and I'm sure both will turn out STELLAR! Hows that sound Zack? Wish you were in the neighborhood Zack, you can drop in and see for yourself. My cue is in the home stretch and I can't wait!

I was just giving you a hard time, I knew what you meant. I can't wait to see your finished cue either, it should be a real looker! On a side note, I just got some pics of my Skip that's in progress and I have to say that once I get all of my cues in I am going to have one fine little collection!

Yes you will have a fine collection. But not accoriding to some nit in Icon's cue poll, obviously. LOL. But that aside, I think your burl Skip is really a cue that when I saw it initially, with no finish and in pieces, I was skeptical. But it came out as one of his best 6 point designs.

I agree with you there, the cue came out beautifully. I just got pictures of my Skip on order and it's pretty darn nice too! :D

hello......i understand he makes some nice lloking cues but i must say i feel like hes a ass.......i called him once and inquired about having a cue made and was told point blank,my money was no good he sold his cues overseas and had no time to deal with anyone here in the states

I have spent several hours on the phone with Paul Fanelli and can't think for one second he would be like this.

Fred

Paul is a great guy, Dave Barrenbrugge is not.....

I spoken to Paul over the phone in the past and was nice to talk to on the phone. I inquired about going down to visit his shop and get some ideas on his cue and he said no problems.

Dave Barrenbrugge, spoke to him a couple of times on the phone, started a design for my cue and we agreed to meet up at the 2004 Billiard Expo to finalize the design and to show me the forearm that he was working on for me. We met, spoke for about an hour and finished everything on a good note. It was to be to done before the end of the year. (The Expo was in March) I sent him an e-mail to check on the status of my cue and wrote back a couple of days later. The e-mail pretty much said, I've gone into an agreement immediately with Lucky in Japan. He will be handling all the sales, marketing, and designing of my cues. Contact Lucky for a cue.

I was going nuts! My cue is about to be done and this idiot is telling me sorry, I drop all orders and will only listen to Lucky. I wrote back and vented a little about unethical business practice, how he could have honored all his current orders before starting...whatever...didn't get anywhere.

Bottom line, Barrenbrugge will not see a single penny from me. As many cues as I have, I will not have a Barrenbrugge cue in my collection.

Good day.
