Well, that's definitely true. The problem is, how many of those qualifiers are actually ran and marketed well? There was a guy here in my area a few years ago that just went crazy doing his tour every weekend. He got a US Open qualifier and that was the end of him because he ran himself too thin that he quit.I think qualifiers can be a good thing if they're organized and run right. They get a buzz going in the local pool hall and among all the entrants. I think that can be better than simply doing first-come-first-served like for previous events.
But on the other hand you have the MVP tour here in NYC who has done an amazing job of replacing the now defunct tour that Tony Robles used to run. But he at least goes out of his way to do proper marketing and run a pretty solid ship.
