was just reading about kelly fisher, who's apparently had several big surgeries over the years, only to return to top form, and it got me thinking-

what are your favorite examples of players overcoming adversity and getting back to what they love to do?

could be adversity at any level..pro examples are good, but admirable qualities can be found all around- share a personal story, or one about your pal :woot:

wasn't really a big deal but sure cured an itch!

Some much bigger comebacks non pool related but when I was nineteen I had a major shoulder surgery. Rotator cuff and a large section of the socket shattered on my bridge arm. I didn't realize how big it was until I woke up with a cut close to three-quarter of the way around my arm! They had almost had my arm laying off by itself working on it. Being a teenager some friends came by that night and I tried to sneak out to go play a little one handed pool. Got busted at the elevator, they had given me a shot of sodium penthathol(sp?) before surgery and apparently I had talked too much!

Seven weeks of an arm in a sling and the very first week I found a very nice six man ring game. I went in the place three or four times making myself known but I couldn't get in that game one handed. The very night after the doctor said I could take the sling off I went and tore up that ring game! Would have been a lot smarter to take it easy and milk the game but I had a terrible itch and that was the perfect way to scratch it. Not a huge score or that big of a deal. These were good but obviously not great players. Just felt good to wreck carnage with a pool stick after just shooting a little one handed with friends for that seven weeks.
