P3 Predator - November

Does anyone know why the release date for the new P3 has been pushed back to November? I thought I was getting close to buying one and now it seems I have to wait for a while longer.

Predator never hits their original release dates. Just look at last year's delays with the jumper. Last I heard, P3 has been pushed to Mid-November, so I'd expect to see it for sale sometime in December. Based on Predator's track record, I'd expect that most people won't be able to actually get one though until early 2009. Considering how often this happens, I'd guess this is more of a marketing tactic than anything else. This seems to be the pattern they follow with any "new" technology (IKONs don't count).


Announce a date.
Push the date back.
Push the date back again.
Ship out a minimal amount of product that won't even come close to meeting demand.
Continue to let demand build.
Ship product en masse and flood the market.

I've heard this happens alot with video games where they will push the release to their next quarter to boost sales for that period.

Video game companies that miss deadlines is much more about the whole "its done when we say its done" mentality. I believe Duke Nukem Forever is now officially 10 years past its original release date, although I can now play Duke Nukem 3D on my XBox, so that's pretty sweet.
