So Pacquiao-Alcano finally lost after beating some higher ranked team. Saw Pacquiao play a bit and he is quite good. Some nice draw and CB control. But I have a feeling Ronnie makes it easy for Pacquiao
I am calling either the old dogs Reyes-Bustamante or the youngest pups Ko-Ko to be champions tomorrow. :D

Earlier quarterfinal results:
Reyes/Bustamante -Bongay/Labrador 11-10
Ko/Ko beat Gomez/Kiamco 11-4
Hohmann/Morra beat Silvano/Esquillo 11-6

I think that makes my point. World Championships in a shopping mall? Seriously? Do they play their soccer championships in the mall parking lot or in a stadium of some kind? Seems to me the immense popularity of pool in that country is exaggerated quite a bit. I guess the shoppers can take a break and see what's going on.

wait. who told you that pool is "immensely popular" in the Philippines? we may have been consistently producing talented players but it is a misconception that pool is very much alive here. for me, it is actually good that they held this event inside a shopping mall - to encourage people to get interested and play this beautiful game.

Toasty and Morra took down the ko brothers after some costly positional mistakes by lil ko and flawless play by toasty morra

we now have a championship match.

Thorsten Hohmann / John Morra vs Jeffrey De Luna / Jeffrey Ignacio

Chezka Centeno was just 13 years old in this video, she ran out 15 balls like it was nothing,,, :p

this is amazing. girl or not but a 14 year old playing pro speed and beating dennis and carlo in a doubles match with another 14 year old kid in a big money tournament. this is blowing my mind. i hope both of these kids can get sponsored and have legit professional careers

Thank you all for the videos of this 14 year old girl. I've been playing and watching pool for over 60 years and never saw any girl as good as her...and I saw Jean Balukas in person many times. Jean wouldn't have a chance to beat her. You have to wonder how many more are hiding under the radar over there. Johnnyt

Here's a short video of the local news showing snippets of these 2 youngsters shooting in the torunament. Jeffrey Roda's (the boy) 10 ball break ain't shabby either. Chezka says she shoots at least 100 racks a day, but when they came to Manila to compete (they're both from the Southern part of the Philippines, Mindanao), she practices 6 hours a day, probably not to burn herself out...

The 2 Jeffs -De Luna/Ignacio are the champion of the inaugural WPA sanctioned MP Cup doubles. They beat Hohmann/Morra 11-6 preventing Hohmann from sweeping both singles and doubles events :) Congrats to both of them
The way Hohmann is going he may end year top of prizemoney list..He will be in World Cup of Pool later this month then after that maybe in MC :D

Just a walk in the park.

The most impressive part of that run was her position shot from the 9 to the 10. A delicate stun-follow shot that gave her ideal angle on the 10. She shot it without even thinking about it.

This girl is a prodigy. Hope to hear from her in other international competitions...both men and women's events!

 Dennis Orcullo and Carlo Biado probably did not know what hit them. Per the newscast, the reporter said that the teenagers played so well that Carlo and Dennis got nervous and missed easy shots. One thing for sure, they will certainly not have a shortage of great and superstar coaches.

Hopefully, we get to see a full video of the entire doubles match.

Nice article about this billiards phenom:

BTW, I also hope that Jeffrey Ignacio gets a US visa soon so he can compete in the US Open. Per one of Efren's interviews, he mentioned that Ignacio is the next big player to come out from the Philippines.
