Pain in arm

Hello,

I read this forum quite often, and it is full of useful info, but i haven't find anything about my problem so i decided to register and start a thread.

So, i started playing again after a long break (3 years) and i noticed that i've got some pain in my arm.
Well, i play quite intensive in the past 2 weeks, like 2-3 hours each day, but the pain is not like fatigue, i feel it something different.
When i bend to take a shot, i feel pain in my left shoulder, (i hold the cue in my right hand) also above my elbow, and the most annoying that around my little finger on my hand there is such pain sometimes, i can't really describe it.
The pain in the shoulder decreases after like 20 minutes of playing, but around my little finger i feel the pain all the time.
Now i'm at the point that even when i type on the keyboard my shoulder hurts, and of course my little finger too.

I know it sounds funny a little bit, especially with the little finger, but for me it is a real problem.
Did this happen to anyone? When this pain will disappear?
Could you recommend any cream or other treatment?

Thanks for answers in advance

Regards,
Thomas

You are lucky it is your bridge hand... Got the same thing (only shoulder). Went to a doctor, turns out I got a spur in my joint. This thing is sharp, and is cutting into a tendon every time I bend and move my arm. Requires either special PT, for which I have no time, or a surgery. If left as is, it will eventually cut the tendon, and my arm will just drop, as he says. Just to be safe, get an x-ray. It is pretty cheap, and you may not need an MRI.

Have you considered seeing a doctor? A doctor (orthopedic or chiropractic) would want to know your age, your general health condition (high blood pressure, etc.), your sleeping positions, eating habits, drug use, etc. As an instructor, I would want to see your stance and stroke, warm-up routine, etc. Without knowing this stuff and more, I can only suggest doing some yoga and/or tai chai, swimming and perhaps hypno-therapy. I personally use several ointments, including "Triflora" and "Arniflora" (depending on whether the problem is from an injury or from arthritis) and Aloe Vera. Light weight-lifting may help as well, and massage after play can do wonders.

Many years ago I had shoulder surgery for pain that started in the shoulder and continued down through the elbow, to the wrist and hand. It was accompanied by a slight weakness in the arm as well, I had inflamed muscles that were pressing on the nerve in the acromium joint. Rest was not possible, work, and antiinflamarory drugs didn't work. Surgery was my choice. Not saying that's your problem, but see a doctor. It sounds nerve related and could be in neck or shoulder.

Good luck!

Hmm, you guys sound more serious than i expected... :(

I guess i really have to go to doctor then.

Thanks for sharing your minds.

I would go thru the search forums, you'll find information on neck/shoulder/back pain from pool that could easily help you out of your issue, and catching it now is good.
Most of the time its' from poor body mechanics, where your actually positioning your body where you want it but not where its supposed to be when addressing the shot.
When you place all physical components of your body on to the table, you must be comfortable....there should be no physical parts of your stance that are more noticable than another, and you shouldn't twist your stance or bridge hand when your ''down & done'' on your shot and already comfortable.
