Painting

Hi Guys.

Yo Tex...the chrome looks awesome...for some reason the photos of the table are gone...

I used HVLP for the Lacquer Only. I put the shellac on as a sealer coat with a brus.

Shellac + Black Lacquer + Clear Lacquer with Metal Flake + Clear Lacquer with Green Ghost Pearl + Clear Lacquer with Electric Blue Shimmer Pearl.

The finish is awesome. It looks black in low light. In extreme light the Metal Flake is so dazzling it looks silver. In daylight, incandescent or fluorescent the color swirls to green or blue...frankly...I think it looks like Titanium Gun Metal Blue.

I've got 25 coats on it and 10 to go.

I've been thinning the last few coats very slightly...6 parts Lacquer and 1 part alcohol.

It is important to get a heavy build up of clear over the metal flake!

Anything worth doing is worth doing to excess!

Thanks for sharing. It does look good. I bet the pictures don't do it justice.

Still putting on the lacquer

Hi Guys - Well - I decided that I hadn't done sufficient prep work on the raw wood, so, after 25 coats I sanded the whole darn thing down and started over! My wife thinks I'm crazy...and...others agree with her. I'm now down to only 2 clear coats remaining - THEN - 14 days of lacquer curing - THEN - the wet sand and polishing with an orbital buffer. Basically, I'm treating this like a Hot Rod Car finish. It is gonna look awesome with the Black Lacquer topped off with Ghost Pearl Green and Silver Metal Flake.

If any of you want to get into the Pearl and Metal Flake I strongly recommend www.paintwithpearl.com for the necessary materials. Lyndi is the owner and she is very helpful.

Photos to be posted soon - the table will be installed on June 26th.

My greatest hope is that I've got a great mechanic here in Tulsa - I think I do, but, you never know until it's up and playable.

PS - I got to see the Women's 9-Ball National Championship last weekend. Allison Fisher won her 6th Title. She is A LOT BETTER THAN ME!

Finished the table, thanks to Mark Gregory for the great job on the rail's.

Sweet! Very nice looking table. I probably missed it, but, how did you set up the rails and pocket openings? New Artemis rubber?

Congratulations on a beautiful table.

The rails were done by Mark Gregory (perfectpockets) it has the Artemis rubbers, and tighten pockets.
Thanks for the reply.
