palmer and paradise and josswest

i also didnt know if it could be another cuemaker other than frank. i dont know much about cues from this era but at least im honest :o)

well like i said i dont know. but what is the mali worth anyhow? other than that the last paradise i saw looked very similar so i wanted to know if there were actual differences in the production of cues that would be able to help me distinguish a paradise from others other than looking at pictures.

Well to someone that doesn't know cues from this era, it's easy to see a cue with a ton of MOP and say "Oh it's a Paradise", but believe me, that isn't one. You have to know cues, and be intimately familiar with these cues to get a feel for who made what. I can pick out most Paradises and Palmers w/o batting an eye.

im just trying to learn. thats why id like to know if there is anything that makes his cues stand out. like the small pin that i heard about or something like that. there has to be key things to look for to distinguish. thats all im asking. its ok that this is probably not a paradise. id like to be able to know this for the future.

thanks everyone

LIKE JOE IS SAYING, IT'S ALL ABOUT EXPERIENCE. I'VE POINTED OUT SEVERAL THINGS THAT AREN'T CORRECT ABOUT THE UNKNOWN CUE.

THE JOINT RINGS
THE PIN (HEIGHT)
THE JOINT (WALL THICKNESS)
THE BUTTCAP MATERIAL
THE VINYL VENEERS
THE BUMPER

i'm confused. some of the most knowledgeable posters on az say there is no way it is a paradise and yet the op still thinks it's something else. this is definitely not a paradise. it's a nice looking old mali, it should have a good market, sell it. i've learned a lot by listening to the experts here that know what they are talking about.

if u read then u will tell that im not arguing what it is. im trying to gain knowledge about paradise cues.......please read the entire thread b4 posting something like that.

RONNIE SAID HE GOES BETWEEN JERSEY AND FLORIDA, SO I WAS CURIUOS..... THE ONE I HAD IN MY HANDS A FEW WEEKS BACK, HAD THE SAME CRACK IN THE RING ABOVE THE WRAP.

maybe describe him. i call him jersey joe so its a good possibility

HE'S A BIGGER OLDER GUY. VERY SOLID STRAIGHT POOL PLAYER. I ONLY MET HIM WHEN HE BROUGHT ME THE CUE TO LOOK AT.

I THINK THE NAME "JERSEY JOE" IS A GIVE AWAY THAT IT'S THE SAME GUY. I WAS INTRODUCED THROUGH MY FRIEND RICH, WHEN JOE WAS LOOKING FOR INPUT ABOUT THIS CUE. I TOLD HIM ALL THE SAME THINGS THAT I'M SAYING HERE. HE WSN'T HAPPY THAT IT WASN'T A PARADISE, AND I COULD TELL THAT HE DIDN'T REALLY BELIEVE ME, BUT I'D PLACE A SIZEABLE WAGER THAT THE CUE IS NOT A FRANK PARADISE.

IT'S A NICE OLD CUE, AND WORTH 2-500 DEPENDING ON THE BUYER.

IF YOU WANT MORE INFO, YOU CAN GIVE ME A CALL, I'M AT MY ROOM TIL MIDNIGHT TONIGHT.

It is a Mali. A pretty neat one at that. But just like I told you when it was on E-Bay as a Paradise. Its a Mali. That is what you have. A Mali.

ITS A NEAT MALI. THOSE CUES ARE UNDER RATED imo. LIKE OLD VIKINGS AND ADAM CUES. MANY OLDER COMPANIES MADE DIFFERENT VARIATIONS OF THEIR "LINE" CUES.

LIVING IN NJ (LOL) WE GET ALL TYPES OF PPL THINKING THEIRS ADAM VIKING OR MALI'S ARE PALMERS PARASIDES OR EVEN BOTIS

LIKE MARKUS SAID IF YOU SAW ALOT OF PALMERS OR PARADISES YOU CAN SEE A BIg DIFERENCE. EVEN THE OTHER GUYS LIKE FENDUNKA OR KARL MaYERS CUES CANT BE MISTAKEN FOR PARADISES TO A KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON.

Karl mayers are often thought to be paradises. v poor quality compaired to palmers and paradises
