Guys,

We are in search of a pantagraph machine for our shop. Any of you guys willing to help us out on getting one , where to get one , or how to build one would be VERY appreciated.
Any and all help is appreciated!
Thanx ,

A lot of people have had luck in getting them from local trophy or engraving shops. Most places have upgraded to the digital age, and many shops have an old heavy pantograph engraver sitting in the back of their shop collecting dust. Just a thought.

I have 2 Gorton pantographs in my garage that my wife has been bugging me to get rid of. I'll take some pictures and PM you.

What is a Gorton worth?

To my wife or to me ? :)

I have 2 Gorton pantographs.

I've had a couple of inquiries but I'm not sure what they're worth. I know what I have in them but I'm motivated to make room. Shipping may be an issue as they're very heavy - somewhere around 1,000 lbs each. I transported them with an engine hoist and a U-Haul trailer.

#1 is a model 3U. This is the one I see in alot of cuemaker's shop pictures. Everything works great. There are some cuts and marks in the table but everything moves smoothly and works correctly.

#2 is a model P1-3. When I bought this it had a 3 phase motor but I changed it with a matching 115VAC motor and switch. I have all the original parts. Although this is the newer of the two machines and is in very good condition, I felt it was less suitable for cue-making because of the way the tables are positioned. I locked down the tracer stylus and used this one as a light duty milling machine until I broke one of the belts. I see the belts on ebay regularly for about $15. The spindles are interchangeable between the two machines: one has a 1/8" collet, the other has a 1/4" collet.

I also have the crude beginnings of a cue holding jig. It works as an indexing fixture but the mounting of the spin indexer and tailstock should be redesigned.

I also have 2 sets of letters in their original boxes.
