Pat's CTE System

Do steps 1-3 while standing.

1. Stand behind the CB and sight down the CTE line (a half-ball, 30-degree cut).

2. If CTE looks too thin for the shot, shift your eyes to aim fatter. If CTE looks too fat for the shot, shift your eyes to aim thinner.

3. Shift your eyes in one direction until you've obviously gone too far, then shift them back in the other direction until you've obviously gone too far that way, then shift them back the other way, etc. Keep doing this, shifting your eyes back and forth in smaller and smaller amounts until you think you've closed in on the approximate correct aim line.

This should eventually (with practice and experience) take no more than a few seconds.

4. Get down in shooting position with your stick on that approximate aim line (through the center of the CB), then repeat steps 1-3 while sighting down your stick, moving your stick back and forth in very small increments until you feel exactly lined up.

5. Shoot.

Warning: except for the initial CTE alignment, this system is executed entirely by feel, which may cause lack of confidence, lightheadedness and an inexplicable desire for celebrity leadership. These feelings are normal and can be cured in most cases by sending me a donation sized according to the severity of your problem (your donation is included in the price of my soon-to-be-released dvd).

IF I aim the center of the ball to the edge of the object ball and it still looks fat ( less than half ball hit ? ), why not just look at the opposite side ( inside ) of the cueball and aim that past the center of the object ball a hair or more ?

your a FUNNY guy Pat:D

What about straight-ins? The other systems have plenty of steps for calculating straight-ins.

It's not exact!

Why would you need to calculate that ?
That's center to center or side to side lined up.
That is if you're not kidding.

...why not just look at the opposite side ( inside ) of the cueball and aim that past the center of the object ball a hair or more ?
The desired end result is to have your stick pointed in the right direction through the center of the CB, right? Why align your eyes with something else?

The correct end result of all aiming is (by definition) to be aiming at the ghost ball, but that doesn't mean every system is ghost ball.

pj <- that'll be $3.50

Very astute question!

That's step one in Pat's "Manual" CTC (Center-to-Center) system, which you need to master before trying Pat's "Pro" CTC system, which you need to master before tackling Pat's CTE System. Don't try a straight in shot at home without first following the step-by-step instructions in Pat's "Manual" CTC System! Safety first!

Because past half ball you're aiming at air.:D
Of course, you can also just visualize the collision, and you're mind's eye will tell you if it's too thick/thin and the tangent line.
When is the dvd coming out ?

[serious]To be serious for a moment (not for long, I promise), you're never aiming the stick "at" anything in Pat's CTE System; you're simply aiming it in the right direction to align the CB/OB correctly for the shot. You sight down the stick so you'll know if you're stroking it in the right direction.[/serious]

I was skeptical at first, but after some practice I think I got it! When I'm doing it right, it feels like I can't miss. It is so simple. I even taught this to my 12 year old student, and her game improved immediately. That proves it for me: Pat's CTE is the most accurate aiming system in pool!
And I think you are wrong, Pat. It IS exact. And I can prove it on paper, but it might take a while. Complex stuff like this can't be done with 9th grade math.

Regarding step #2.....What if I only have 1 good eye???

Oh....and I think you forgot the disclaimer that you must have a consistent and repeatable stroke...

Sorry, you're out of luck. Pat's CTC and Pat's CTE only work for people with an even number of eyes.

Oh, and one other limitation: Pat's CTE is strictly a pocket-cheating system. You cannot hit center pocket with this sytem (unless you move the CTE line using my ultra-advanced "rotating centers" technique - which can only be taught to fully baptized Pat's CTE ninjas).

I used Pat's system last night at the pool hall and I started making everything. Shots I was normally uncomfortable with -- I started making with regularity. (Now that I think about it, I think Bustamonte uses this same system... maybe Jimmy Moore too.) I was playing a guy last night and was stuck 39 games and then started using the system and came back to crush him like a ripe grape. AND THEN (one time at Band Camp) I showed a young Asian chick the basics of the system and she, to my amazement, went on to break Willie Mosconi's record of 526 balls.

It's amazing, I say.

Not only Bustamante and Jimmy Moore ..... I was carefully scrutinizing Earl's eye movements in his showdown with Shane and he was doing just what Pat prescribes. Shane, however, did not. Earl must have realized that Pat's system is even more beneficial on a 5' x 10'.

Now that I've proved that Earl uses Pat's system, the only question is .... Has Earl been in Chicago lately? Or did Pat mysteriously leave town for a few days?
