Paul Huebler says NOT closing shop...

PaulL

Arrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhh!
I spoke to him on the phone on Thursday (4/5/07) and he told me that he wasn't closing shop, he wasn't going to stop making cues, and he's most certainly not dead. He said there's a new rumor every week about him and if there's any doubt to just call the shop and ask.

That said, a forum member was apparently told that he was closing just the other day, and though I don't know this particular member (or many of you at all lol), I would not be inclined to doubt his word. I also called on Wednesday, I believe, and couldn't get an answer at the shop, so I was convinced myself. Just for grins, I tried again Thursday and got the above statement. So....I'm confused, but for now, I can say that he's open for business.

That's funny ...

Because I was going to start a thread on whether people thought that Hueblers, would somehow, become collectible cues in the future .... LOL

Was it Paul you talked to? He's got to be up in years now!!!

Yeah, it was Paul himself. They're already going for WAY too much on ebay. A used SP just ended at $255 when you can get a brand new one for $232.65. I think Paul is in his 80's now, but I'm not sure.

While I'm thinking about it, if anybody knows anything about the cue in this thread, let me know. Also need some info on the one pictured here. It's a Huebler, the lettering on the butt just isn't shown. Rings are cocobolo stacked on tulipwood/maple.

A Tribute To Paul Heubler

Paul has been consistently making good cues at reasonable prices for nearly 40 years, with little fanfare or gimmicks. He just makes a good cue for a fair price, and doesn't feel the need to go around beating on his chest, claiming that his cues are the best.

Paul has always stood behind his product and given excellent customer service. He is an unsung hero among cuemakers in my opinion.

One of my best "playing" cues is my Huebler sneaky pete. Excellent balance and hit. The only reason I don't play with it more is I'm afraid someone will mistake it for a house cue and walk off with it.

Nice Huebler

That is a nice Huebler you have posted here Paul-L. From my 1988 Huebler catalog I have, it is listed as a H-C. If it has the following in gold lettering. If the lettering is in black it is most likely from the early 90s.

Huebler
Made in USA

MSRP is listed at $341.00 on July 8, 1988. It has a nice vintage Gus Szamboti look to the forearms and always been one of my favorites designs. ;)

Yep, it's printed in black. Cool, now I know something about it, anyway. I'd like to get my hands on some of those old catalogs, but I can't find anybody willing to let go of them.

Paul-L,

Sorry pal, I don't have any catalogs to send your way. The memory bank info is free in-between shots of JTS Brown. ;)

I could make some scans of the 88 catalog, if you give me some green and your email address. :D

Bugs.
PS. It will have to be this weekend, if I don't play in that "weekend tournament."
