I am fortunate to also own this incredible Paul Mottey cue.
Paul based this design upon Gus Szamboti's favorite personal playing cue.
Of course, the cue has one of his famous piloted ivory joints and came with three (3) original shafts.
The shaft weights are 3.9, 4.2 and 4.4 ozs. and you can feel the difference in how these shafts play.
Naturally, all of the shafts have ivory ferrules. This cue is my other player along my Tim Scruggs cue.

I've always been a fan of Mottey, and I've always liked this style of 8 point cue. Wonderful piece of equipment.

Very interesting Paul Mottey cue, thanks for posting the pics
Beautiful cue, definitely a keeper

flyvirginiaguy.........you got that right about the shafts.
There are 3 shafts in the photo and the one marked with red is the thinnest shaft (12.75mm).
The dark shaft is the heaviest shaft (4.4 ozs) and is a monster to play with......Wow....(12.9mm).
The 3rd shaft is 13.05 mm and all of the shafts play just great but the one you picked is the best.

One of the sweetest cues on AZB. If it was 1991 again, this may well be the cue of the year. Super nice Mottey!!!

I've been criticized by a few AZers for praising Paul Mottey's piloted ivory cue joints.
If I didn't already own one of his cues, I might have have gotten a pass from them.
I guess it came across like I was boasting which is was truly never my intention.
Heck, my collection seems pale in comparison with some other cue collections.

Basically all I was doing was reciting what's been written about Paul as a cue-maker
and offered my attestation to how amazing his ivory joint feels. Frankly, I thought
being a piloted, joint, the ivory feel would be lost but it wasn't which I really found to
be astonishing. I was pleasantly surprised and I'd relish owning another Mottey cue.

Matt, I still want this Mottey...lol

This cue is badass buddy!

Seriously, you should never sell it.........unless it's to me, of course.

Sweet cue, Jerry

I've owned a number of Paul Mottey and James White's cues over the years and a couple of them had piloted ivory joints and some had piloted SS joints. My current playing cue is a Paul Mottey with a piloted SS joint and the hit is different than the more lively, in my opinion, piloted ivory jointed cues. I'm sad that Paul retired from cue making because i'm a big fan of his cues and how they play.

Well said, James. Motteys and Whites are huge players, but they are also some of the finest lookers.
