Jim,

What you do now works.. Signature on light colored forearms and JMW engraved on dark forearms.. The cue speaks for itself.. The little id mark should never interefere with the cues beauty and neither of yours do..

Me I like the JMW.. Especially on the Hoppes.. But you do what you think is best..

Also.. you have spent enough time on here.. Get back to making my snakewood block cue.. :D :D :) :)
JUST kidding..

Mike

I like the tomas wayne sig use a gold or silver fine tip marker.just my 2 cents realy stands out...

I like the signature under the finish, somewhere on the forearm (preferrably not on the veneers), better than the buttcap engraving.
And then I go and have Jim engrave the buttcap on a cue this year. What a hypocrite I am! :p

I like the engraving done on the bottom of the butt cap like those that come out of the Huebler custom shop and some of Paul Drexler's stuff like his anniversary cues. It is almost impossible to distract from the aesthetics of the cue. The only time this would be an issue is on a cue like those put out by Mottey and White made out of burled wood. It could still be done, but might weaken the wood.

Just out of curiosity....what do you guys prefer? The "engraving" on the butt cap, or the signature and date on the forearm. Some say the signture detracts from the cue's looks, others say the engraving makes the cue look "production". What are your thoughts?

Jim

Hi Jim,

When in doubt, have both right? :)

Initially, you engraved my cue into the ivory hoppe ring, then when I sent the cue back for the ivory joint, I asked for the signature. So, I have both!

Edward,
This is an old thread that I ran across yesterday. Jim might not be reading it since he posted it last year.

I'm hoping my new White cue is signed in addition to the engraving. I didn't specifically ask Jim for it, so we'll see when it arrives.

Scott, Pm me with your e-mail address and I'll show you pics of the cue.

Also, do you still need the copy of the old check we were talking about last time?

Jim,
Your penmanship is only out done by your premier cuemaking talents. Personally signing your work means much more than having a cold bit in an engraving machine do it for you. I continually get compliments on the cue you made for me. Sign on, Brother!

..you should have a J with a sideways W..

What?!?!?! That's been done already? :D

What's wrong with copying something that has already been done before??? It's not like Billy invented the letters.
