You have to watch out for Predator -- they are very "sneaky". Take Predator's classic "Green Hornet" Cue (SPJLW or Sneaky Pete Jointed Linen Wrap) as an example. I would have pegged it as a Hoppe -- 4 Points, Veneers, Ring. But what do I know? Anyone have any idea what was driving Predator's nomenclature? Early on? Later?
Further, the term "sneaky pete" has got to be the most misused term in pool -- so abused one cannot accurately determine what is intended to be described.

QR is the Quiet Roller models, pretty nice looking and properly built cues. My son had one for a bit.
Not a Revo, no markings at all and I could feel slight ridge along the length of it.

That AR might be a felony waiting to happen. That barrel doesn't look 16" to me. which makes that an SBR and requires Federal Tax Stamp / NFA registry...... Of course camera angles deceive.
The internet ruined most people's experiences at places like pawn shops, thrifts, yard sales, estate sales, antique shops--- in terms of finding really great cue bargains- some can still be found at times-- but not like the pre E BAY days for sure. Now all these sales outlets look up " E Bay ASKING Prices" and assume that is a correct starting point for their items- WRONG!
Back in the pre E Bay days I had many, many cue finds- really terrific cues at great low, low prices. I would even buy ivory tusks at estate sales, etc. back then and sell them to cue makers. Today you have to be very, very fortunate to stumble upon a really good cue at a bargain price- buy they will pop up at times if you are willing to be out in the second hand sales market every single week- I don't do too much of that anymore bc of the internet. I got tired of seeing Meucci cues at pawn shops priced at $400/ $500+

Having managed a pawn shop in a former life, I'd almost guarantee that if you offered $500 cash they'd take it. I'd guess at that price they probably loaned $250 max, maybe $300 if it had been in a couple times before.
For example, I bought a black no wrap P3 and a 12.9 Revo for $600 cash earlier in the year. They had it marked at $899.

A P3 no wrap is $1140 at PoolDawg. You got a deal (or maybe it was an even better deal with two shafts?). But......if you just wanted a Revo? Sport 2 no-wrap w. Revo at Pool Dawg for $740. The $600 is a bit rich then.....
