Payout Percentages

Is there a standard set of percentages that are paid out in tournaments, or does everyone just figure them out on the fly? I have noticed some payouts are top heavy while others are not, I use ingenpool 2.3 to run tournaments but the default payouts seem to top heavy. Any input on this?

I guess it can depend on number of players, entry fee, and added money or not. I don't like top heavy unless it is a very small tourny with low entry.

"One of Four" is normally a good payout. If you have 16 players, pay out to top four players. The fourth place player should receive at least his entry fee.

it is hard to do but i like to see things double as you go through the money round. if you had 32 players and paid 8 places with 100 for entry you definatly need a good chunk of added money if you start 7th and 8th paying 100.

7th and 8th-100 =200
5th and 6th-200 =400
4th ------------- 400
3rd ------------- 800
2nd-------------1600
1st--------------3200

that comes to 6600

entry fee's----3200
added money--3400

now you got to think about other costs, the venue and tour directors. so if it was 5000 added and half of the entry fees went to exspenses it works ! 1600+5000=6600

it is a tall order but double your money when winning a match in the money round is very nice imho. you don't see it much though !

Payouts

1/4 of field is a good, fair system. PGA tour( i know we're talkin' crazy cash here) pays 18% of purse for first and then 18% of whats left down thru the field.
