You're very welcome. I was curious myself, though, so it was a little selfish.... :D

BTW, shhh, don't tell my boss, when I type fast, he thinks I'm working....

One thing to take note of is that this was a 256-player full field, which meant that there were 72,000 bucks added as opposed to $50,000.

Interestingly, a player only had to win two matches to win $500 which is the cost of the entry fee for the U.S. Open.

I am always amazed at payout percentages, and each event I attend, they differ. The U.S. Open paid out 96 spots out of 256, which was GREAT for all the players who cashed. :D

First place all the way to fourth place, there was a 50-percent cut. Notice that Earl Strickland won $5,000 for fourth place, and then the cuts were not 50 percent, but still very high. Fifth and sixth place paid out $4,500 as an example.

I think the U.S. Open this year was the best ever, and I can't wait for next year. We had a wonderful experience in Chesapeake, Virginia -- no hurricanes and a fantastic turnout. The State's logo is "Virginia is for Lovers." However, IMHO, Virginia is for POOL lovers. It sure was great to be there. :)

Here's a picture of two old road warriors who hadn't seen other in 10-plus years. It is events like these which keep pool alive and well for me and mine. Jerry Bento a/k/a "The Toe" and Keith McCready enjoying themselves to the fullest at the 2005 U.S. Open. :p

Actually, you had to win at least the first two rounds in the winners bracket to cash in at 64-96.

Pablo Matheu won against John Macias, and then against Tony Robles. He then lost to Alex Pagulayan in the winners bracket. At the B side he lost to Dan Wallace. Finishing his rounds at the Open.

Anyone losing their first match would have had to win three matches in the B Bracket to place 64-96 and get their money back. (Danny Basavich).

Danny lost in the first round to Larry Kressel, then won against Jamie McWorter, Nick Bewley and Craig Wolfe. He then lost to Demetrio Jelatis.
