So, I sold a cue to a guy that paid through PayPal backed with a Credit Card a few days ago. I have nothing on my end that payment was made, in other words, no email notification and nothing in my account summery.

The buyer sent me a screen shot of his transaction where he paid and where the funds went, my account. At the bottom of the transaction statement, it reads "unclaimed".

I have never ran across this in the past and want to know what I need to do to accept the money. What is the deal?

The power of google...

"A payment might be unclaimed because: The recipient hasn't signed up for a PayPal account yet. You sent money to an email address that the recipient hasn't added to their PayPal account. As soon as they add the address to their account, the money will show up in their balance."

Maybe he typed the email address incorrectly? Does his screenshot show the email? Does his screenshot show your actual name?

Usually it is cos wrong email address - either buyer key wrongly or you give wrong email address

The other worst possibility is he sent you fake photoshopped screenshot

It may just be, that your email address hasn't been verified.

I believe you should see a notification after you log onto Paypal, that you have funds that need to be claimed. Basically, you have to accept his payment before it's released to your account. I remember doing this along time ago, and I believe you have to have your banking info setup on PP before you are able to claim a payment, and you have to verify your email address.

lol did all of these responses skip my response? Most likely you just haven't added your email address to your paypal as an acceptable way of receiving it. From the paypal site here are a few possibilities...

An unclaimed payment is a payment that your recipient hasn’t accepted yet. There are a few reasons why your payment might be unclaimed.

A payment might be unclaimed because:
• The recipient hasn’t signed up for a PayPal account yet.
• You sent money to an email address that the recipient hasn’t added to their PayPal account. As soon as they add the address to their account, the money will show up in their balance.
• The recipient is still deciding whether they want to accept your payment. (This can happen if you don’t have a Confirmed address.)

To find out why your payment is unclaimed, contact the person you sent money to. After 30 days, an unclaimed payment is automatically canceled and the money is returned to you.

He is the seller, not the buyer. He is the one not receiving the money and from his post it looks like he has received money on this account in the past so I doubt that is the issue.

My account is verified, has been for years.

Nothing shows up in MY account, just his where he made the payment.

I am the seller and wanting to receive the payment.

I will double check his screen shot and see if my name shows up on his end.

Why not contact paypal with the transaction details and ask? They may be able to clear it up quickly or address any account issues/confirm that the screenshot is legit

1. Did you give him the exact correct email address (check for typo)?
2. Did he send the money to that exact email address (check for typo)?
3. Is that email address that you sent him verified and tied to your paypal account AND you have received money to that exact address in the past?
4. Is your paypal account in good standing (not suspended, no disputes pending).

Post screen shots and maybe blackout names or things you don't need to show to see what is going on.

Yes so the buyer is trying to send money to an account that appears unclaimed like I said...most likely it is either a typo in the email address by either the seller or buyer or the actual email address is not tagged to the paypal as being a way to receive the money...or like I said possibly there is something else going on as in is the account in good standing (which probably isn't the case).

obviously, don't send the cue until the money part is cleared up, but you probably know that part.
this should be easy to straighten out.

I may just tell the buyer to cancel the payment and resend it. Could be the cleanest way to proceed.

My account is not in any trouble, at least I do not have anything on record stating that from PayPal. I have had the same address since day one, only account I own.

I have done hundreds of transactions between AZB and Ebay with no issues at all. Same for moving funds between my bank account and PayPal.

OK...did you check to see if the email address he used is exactly correct (you never responded to that question? Can you not post a screen shot of his payment (obviously hiding anything that you don't want shown) in case someone is able to catch something else that may be wrong?

Hi Tom!

Could it be the error is in the email address he used? I just bought a cue from you last month and I also bought your Lomax jumper some time ago and everything went smooth...He did use the email: "Paypal-tyoung502@aol.com". I have sent payments to "tyoung502@aol.com" both times with no issues in our transactions.

Thanks Mark, I will see if that is the issue.

I hope you are enjoying the cues I shipped you!

Lol, he copy/pasted what you sent him. That'll teach you not to send it as a formatted email address. Looks like any worries are gone, though.
