If I send money to a friend through PayPal and the PayPal account is only funded by my credit card will I be charged a cash advance fee? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes. There is typically a fee associated with a credit card payment, regardless if you send as family or for goods.

I sent money like that and never got a cash advance fee on my credit card maybe different cards have charges

I don't believe there is a cash advance fee, it's a charge just as if you purchased something on line from Amazon. PayPal will always charge a fee, it's just a matter of who pays it. The only time I haven't been charged a PayPal fee is when I transferred money using the PayPal Mobile app and transferred money from my bank account like an electronic check. If I used a debit or credit card there was always a fee. I'm not sure if that mobile app no fee thing is still in effect, but that was the only time I wasn't charged a PayPal fee for transferring money
