These are really common and I'm sure anyone here that has a PayPal acct has seen them. Go to the PayPal site and report it as a phishing attempt. They have instructions and you can forward the email to them.

I have had PayPal since day one, and this is the first scam email I have received.

These scams have been around for almost as long as Paypal has been in existence.

A lot of people don't know that there is an excellent physical security option available for both Paypal and Ebay. It is a physical authentication token system (Similar to RSA for the IT geeks out there) which you have to physically have with you anytime you want to logon to your account. The token generates a random code that is time sensitive, so it changes each time you use it.

They only cost $5. The link on Paypal is here. The same token can also be used on Ebay for no extra cost.

The only thing I don't like is that they put their logo all over the token. It really should be as anonymous as possible so if someone steals it they don't know what site it is for.

This Paypal scam has been around for a while and especially pops up right before the Holidays when people are doing lots of on-line shopping - they see the above form - panic they won't be able to use their account - and as it looks very legit fill it out = money gone!! -

Go on Paypal's website as StrokeofLuck said and click on Security Center - you can report these scams on the links they provide -

Hey Brian:

My advice is to give them all of the information they are asking for.
These people have been around for a long time and since they are obviously tied directly to Paypal the need this information to "verify" your account.

I know a guy in Nigeria that would also like to have the same information.

I'll have the guy from Nigeria deliver them in person.
He's a good friend...I let him use my computer when he comes to town to hand carry my inheritance millions

I get these kind of emails all the time. I just report it to PayPal and then delete it.

PayPal never asks for your user name and etc. in an email. I once got an email asking me to click on a link and enter all my info because my PayPal Account was on hold or something like that.

I logged on to my PayPal Account to find it was up and running and nothing was on "hold".

Beware and always log on PayPal and check your account. But NEVER use the link in the scam email to go to PayPal.

I get those emails every so often. Used to forward them to Paypal, now I just delete them.

You shouldn't post the actual link. Someone might accidentally click on it. Put a dash or someting in it so it doesn't work.

I actually enjoy putting in all bogus info into these phish'ers emails in hopes that they might actually have to take the time to try to pry into them in attempt to abscond from a legitimate source of funds....F these scammers

Also, beware of the craigslist scammers too. Most of them are pretty obvious though. Not nearly as sly as the paypal scammers. Usually pretty poor English. They usually ask for your items current condition and final asking price. They also say they "will like to buy your item". Most of you have probably already seen them but if I can help one person recognize these and avoid being scammed then it's certainly worth posting.
Happy Holidays :)

I've seen this scam come across my email before a few years ago. I just forwarded it to Paypal. Not sure they ever did anything but they did confirm it was a scam.
