Good win for Bergman, he struggled early on with his potting and break.

But turned it around and pulled off an impressive win.

Really looking forward to Bergman vs Filler in R2.

JB will need to play a lot better if he wants that match to be competitive.

... . I wonder if some of these players, especially the Poles and Germans, get more government support than others. ...
The last I heard from a Polish pro, they receive little support from their national federation after the youth program. Another factor for both federations is likely the split between the WNT and the WPA.

Kledio and Gomez were struggling HARD with the break on T1. Getting decent layouts, just couldn't get anything to go down.
Yes, for the 3 matches on Table 1 today, successful breaks numbered 13 of 38, just 34%. B&Rs were 54% of the successful breaks, but that was just 18% on all breaks.

I don't know how hard that shot on the 3 was (you'll know it when you see it), but the camera angle was choice.
Agreed, incredible last few balls. I was certain he was going to play a safety on that 3 (but I'm no expert either). I regret not making the drive to see the event in person.

Its unreal the amount of people that continually spread the "Oh the Europeans gets so much Federation/govt support" bs, and 'Merica sucks. I asked Daz years ago and he responded with they get very little.
The British pool federation has 57 members. I wonder what kind of funding they have, if any.

On the other hand, Germany has about 20,000 player members in the federation. At that point, membership fees could help even without government support.

I think it varies by country. I believe the Netherlands has a non-trivial amount for top pros, based on success in certain big events. I remember Niels talking about it and how important it was for him to place high enough to keep it, and also I believe Nick Vandenberg stopped competing internationally when he lost his stipend.

The Netherlands city Leiden used to have an Easter tournament every year at a place I think called Dijkje I played in. I finished 4th. They must of had like 200 players. I really like those people there. Of all the countries I've been to the Netherlands and probably Italy I could actually live.
