In Group B Qualification round at the World Cup Ho Chi Minh City, Pedro tied his first game against Hyun-Suk Kim of Korea. He then defeated Javier Palazon of Spain to win his group and move on. Once again Pedro makes it into the main tournament!

But... the draw was not good to him... as he must face number 1 ranked current world champion Torbjorn Blomdahl in his first match. Pedro does have a history of winning against Blomdahl, as he did in the finals of the 2012 Verhoeven Open 40-37 in 29 innings.

The match will be played May 20 at 12:00 noon local time in Vietnam (GMT +7) For me that's midnight in Houston (US CDT).

And I will tweet results on my twitter account @3CBilliards

Hey, that is 11 PM tonight, here. I'll definitely be watching it on kozoom. Zanetti v. Cenet is another good match-up in that time slot. I love the old guard v. young gun type match-up.

I'm catching up on some of the other recorded matches.

This would be a monster win for Pedro. The match begins in just a few minutes. Go Pedro! I have been watching the prelims and am amazed at how fast these tables are.

Blomdahl beats Pedro 40 - 26. Blomdahl - 2.714 average, Pedro - 1.857 average. Blomdahl is just too consistent and had very few open innings.

Yeah, Pedro played well, but TB is TB.

Couple of major upsets in the round of 32. Sanchez and Merckx are both out, and Zanetti barely survived Cenet, 40-39.

Actually, Blomdahl had a 2.85714 (40/14). 2.714 would have been 38/14

Sanchez had 30 in 11 innings against Polychronopoulos but P. had a 22 run and a 3.636 average.

In another match, Caudron squeeked by with a 1.290.

Yeah, Dani was going along, just fine, leading 23-18 - and then Poly... runs 22 and out. With the yellow ball, yet, so not even an equalizing inning. Bad luck for Dani.

I flipped back and forth between the Blomdahl Zanetti match and the Caudron Cho match (I wish kozoom would put in a spit screen option or even a 4-panel screen) . Nether was too scintillating in the quality of play. TB looked a little off and Zanetti was up to taking advantage of it. Caudron fell behind early, trailing 20-10 at the break. But he came back on the strength of a run of 9 or so and pulled it out pretty comfortably.

There have been some wonderful runs in this event, but the overall scoring doesn't seem all that great.
