penn state motor kit failure

Has anyone had the motor kit from Penn State fail? Mine was running great today, ran it for 50 minutes straight, then shut it off to move to another project. Went back about 35 minutes later and it wouldn't turn on. I have a brandnew one in the box for another lathe, so I swapped controllers and it worked. Just wondering if it was a fluke, or they can't take the long run time?
Just want to know if others have had a problem before I replace it with another Penn, and end up in the same end result.

If they're chinese made it's always a crap shoot whether you get a good one or not. Just like with production cues.
 
Yea, I hear you. They do seem to work well though, for the money. I know a lot of people on here are now switching to them, so they can't be too bad....

Sweet! I love it when mechanical repairs work out for the best. I hope it was something simple and minor.

It was just a loose component on the board. It's back up and running. I love the simple ones.

i noticed there out of stock on these at penn state til middle of next month i have used a few with no issues
