Read, learn, and make up you own mind before sending UPS, or FedX. Post Office or USPS is still apprently best way if you have problem. Million of packages moving daily in sysyems, bad stuff happens sometimes.

I have shipped a number of cues (always use Fedex for this) and always set the declared value at the price at which I sold the cue. Expensive but worth it, as the it is the responsibility of the shipper to get the cue to the customer as advertised-

Post Office IS USPS. Bad stuff happens with ALL of them. What i got from that article is that cues would be capped at $1000 by UPS/FedX if it wa more than 20yrs. old.

Well my best story involves a wooden shipping continer, sent AZ to MN. Container was 1/4"plywood, and 2 X 4's very strong, foam lined, about 6 feet long. Top of box was secured with long wood screws.

Container was sent to me for consignment sale of old flintlock rifle. Person on receiving end got the container, and constant in shrink wrap in many pieces. I got photos of the mess, it appeared to have tire tracks, on part of the box. Looked like it got run over by big truck.

Apprently FEDX from the time I dropped off until box arrived at destination. Some how let the box get run over by something very large like truck.

I had bought extra coverage to insure contents, after 6 month of dealing with FEDX claims, they determined the value was less then insured for. This was after an appraisal was supplied. FEDX claim did not take no blame.

Thank goodness I had sent photo of the item to sell to receiver, who was also receptent, and was going to do consignment sale. Let's say I got an education about how FEDX deal with claims. They like taking money for extra coverage, but do not like taking blame for much, or paying claim money.

If you are going to use FEDX, or UPS for send anything of value I would check on packaging requirement, etc. Ask questions how much is coverd, how claims get settled, so if something bad happens, you have dotted all "i's" & crossed all "t's".

Photos of item, or items to be sent could help provide condition of shipment before it was passed off to shipper.

I posted link to educate folks, hope people got some valuable info from it. It was let say a reminder of bad incident with FEDX, and their claims dept.
