Howdy,
I can`t speak for SJM.
With respect to me the awnser is Yes for both but not any more.I can`t run more than 2 balls and it is not worth your time to meet me.But few months ago I was in corner pocket on Lomas(Albuquerque) looking for a game but that local guy refused to give the spot I asked.I did not play him and I left the town after that.
Cheers
Vagabond. :D

Well how much weight was you looking for?

Is it a secret because your roadies or pros?

What are your names, really curious?

Tim,
I believe Vagabond, SJM, and I all share a belief that anonymity on the internet is a wise policy. There are identity thieves, flame masters, and internet psycho-stalkers who can/could make your life miserable if they desired. In addition, prominent people within the game are just a target sometimes for confrontational posters. People who truly love and respect the game (like Vagabond and SJM) will measure a person's character by the ideas expressed in their posts, not by their name or notoriety.

Having said all of that, I can tell you that I fully intended to NEVER reveal my identity to anyone who posts regularly on the internet. My intention originally in attending the WPBA tournaments was to speak to NO ONE except a player/friend of mine. I have basically totally failed in my original intention because (MUCH to my surprise) almost every single AZB'er that I have met has been a true pool fanatic like myself, and I have very much enjoyed their company. Zeeder, Woody, SJM, Christy D, ChefJeff, WallyinCincy, ZimsRack, Sarah R., Melissa H., Jennifer B., Vagabond are ALL very nice people, great pool fans; and I'm way ahead of the game having made their acquaintance (apologies to anyone I've left out); and my tournament experiences have definitely been better as a result.

I'd have to say that your memory is still pretty damn good and you're not as old as you think.

I've eaten in a number of TacoBells over the years, but not for the life of me could I remember where, when, or with whom! (I do remember my first Chalupa though....mmmmmmm)

well, i'm just a beginner, hopefully I will be able to sit and talk pool with all of you, instead of just learning, which i'm not complaining about... and i really also need to catch up on my Monty Python...

ManEc,
It's all about level of enthusiasm, not about level of skill. If you have one, the other will follow. Good luck.

P.S. - Most video stores have the Monty Python television series (funnier than the movies, and you won't "get" the movies as well without seeing the television shows first). You also need to see the "Fawlty Towers" series with John Cleese.

P.P.S. - when you're hanging out with SJM, its better to just listen - think of it as a free lesson from the Safety/Kicking/Pushing Guru. As I hope you were able to see during the tournament, it is not the breaking and running ability that separates the WPBA players - it is their defensive moving ability that differentiates them (were you catching this DCP???).

Hi,
Thank u for your kind and encouraging words.Talking about TacoBells,my favorite places are the one in Deming,New Mexico and Troy( outside St.Louis),Missouri.
One time TacoBell sponsered Steve Mizerack`s senior s( Winnebago warriors) 9 Ball tournament.

I can attest to Willie wanting to keep his identity hidden as had sent him a few PMs due to our living within driving distance from each other. Then out of no where he sent me a message inviting me to the Black Widow Experience in Indy. I am sure glad he did! Not only did I get to spend 3 days with Jeanette and the rest of her crew, I was able to meet Willie and Zeeder which made the trip worth while all by itself.

Now I just gotta get myself over there so he can kick my %$# in straight pool :D

And when Willie saw that wild, maniacal, deranged stare peering at him...that's when a cloud of dust went up from Willie blitzing outta there and he hasn't been seen since...poor guy! :p :D

Point taken. Thanks for the explaination. I have been reading these post for quite some time and was just curious to whom I was reading and how much stock I should put into the answers that they give.

Tim,
I neglected to confess that I had a similar view when I first started lurking/posting here - I thought I would pay attention only to the pro's who are kind enough to post here. I have been pleasantly surprised at the amount of helpful information and entertaining opinions offered by the anonymous posters. I think you would be surprised at the number of truly knowledgeable pool player/fanatics who lurk or post here anonymously. In any case, there will be occasions in the future for you to meet some of these people, and I hope your experiences will be as enjoyable as mine have been.

Willie,

That was a great summary of the tournament. It sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed yourself and learned alot as well. I'm sorry we didn't get to chat more. You and I usually get a chance to talk a bit more. After reading all you have said about not wanting to introduce yourself to others I am glad that you changed your mind. You and I have run into each other many places and I always enjoy talking to you. I think that many of the other people that met you would agree.

Let me know when you will be in the St. Louis area again. We have a straight pool rematch....when you are warmed up and ready this time of course. If not, I will see you in Louisville.

Sarah

Sarah,
"Thoroughly enjoyed" does not even begin to describe it, I had a GREAT time. As you know, I really just attend to watch the high level play and study it. I would never want to intrude on the privacy of the players (even the one who is a good friend of mine) or be a bother in any way. You professionals are there to compete, and I definitely don't want to interfere with your concentration or preparation.

Having said that, I very much enjoy and appreciate the time that you and JB spent with us and look forward to watching you guys play in the future.

Assuming my wife will permit me; I am planning on a visit to St. Louis every few months. I'll practice up; and would love a rematch (with or without any warm-up).
