Try looking at the end grain photos on hobbit house Web site and comparing to what you have. He took an in depth look at a piece he suspected of being different than the pernambuco. Old violin bows were made from this, and highly prized. Perhaps research of those would help with color variations possible in the species. Also, the pernambuco apparently changes color in sunlight pretty quickly. Perhaps a test is in order if the deepening of color isnt an issue?The outside color is on the orange side, the room lighting might give it an off color. Will post the photo later as i will drop by at the wood shop again.
Aside from the color, is there any other distinguishing characteristic?
