Personal record achieved 9 ball

At age 65, all break-and-runs are nice and back-to-back break-and-runs are now rare for me. I somehow did a 3-pack in a tournament four or five years ago, and I’m guessing my best when I was considerably younger was likely a 4-pack in 9-ball and maybe a 5 or 6-pack in 8-ball, all on 9 foot tables.

Any consecutive games run on a table smaller than a 9-foot table I wouldn’t count, and I would not count any PR consecutive racks run unless it occurred in either a tournament match or a $ matchup. I assume some may disagree with my opinion on that.

I might be in the minority here, but I think 8 ball on a 7 footer is the one that matters.

This is a GREAT accomplishment for someone who has been playing seriously for such a short while. It shows a LOT of commitment to learning the game and self improvement! Well done.

Don't sell yourself short man. You can def get er done.
Thanks for the positivity. It's simply not realistic for me, and that's ok. I don't play enough to improve that much, and again, that's ok.

I think its great to celebrate getting that two pack.

Yeah, certainly not easy just like 14.1 is not easy on a 7’ table - not because of the shotmaking but the congestion issues.

10 to 12 years ago, when I played a lot... Was a low 600 to mid 600 Fargorate.
7ft table, 9ball, 7 pack
7ft table, 8ball, 6 pack
9ft table, 9ball, 5 pack
9ft table, 8ball, 5 pack
Most balls on break
7ft table, 8ball, 7 balls
9ft table, 9ball, 7balls
Don't have any notes on 7ft, 9ball or 9ft, 8ball.

Recently, after a big 8 year gap and playing 2 or 3 times a month, no surprise consistency has dropped along with my FargoRate. Ha ha. Now mid 500 player. But, too old to bother practising and play for fun.
Still, had plenty of 3 packs on 7ft on 8ball, not playing 9ball that much on 7ft.
I think maybe 1x 4 pack of 8ball.
9ft tables, even less time as my table is a workbench at home. Ha ha, and I play at 1 venue only.
9ball, 10ball mostly. 2 packs, with 3 or 4 3packs.
8ball, had a 3 pack, missed, then a 2 pack just before last lockdown in Sydney. 6 months off, then having to start from scratch.
Still, made 2nd day on Australian 9ball events recently so not too bad for a hobby player.

If you enjoy playing, that is all that matters anyway.

No matter how much you play or what you biggest run is. I think the biggest thrill is just to enjoy playing. And mostly if you do that, and you put the time in. You will get better.
But unfortunately progress always feels slow.it can will be a while before you see the results!!
I remember reading John Grissim's book from 79. It says something like, hit 3000 balls. And You will improve by 3 balls.

Running 4-6 in a row has to be a great feeling. It's not easy that's for sure.

Even a single break and run is a great feeling for many players. The pool hall I most often go to does not have that many that can manage that, and my team mates and other people I play with often say "must be a nice feeling to do that" whenever I do one. It's a pretty huge milestone to get to a break and run, and then they just happen to occur more often.

Snapped the '9' on the break 3 times on consecutive breaks

It's real rare for me to sink the 9 in on the break. I don't prefer breaking the way that gives you the best chance. The ball spread after the break isn't as ideal vs going into the 1 ball at least for me. 3 in a row man is wild. Well done. The 9 ball gods were in your favor that day lol.

This is the massive benefit of having a home table. Much easier to get to high stroke counts when you can play whenever you want. I am so happy I finally have the space for one. Best purchase I have ever made.

Or if you happen live near a pool hall.i agree it's not easy. where I live in the UK. Its in the middle of nowhere. The only way as a kid I could play, with out travelling nearly, an hour and a half. Was to try and get my own table. I played on 6 ft at home all the time, to keep your hand in. But it's not the same. Anyway 2004, me and a friend put some money together. And we a found a 9ft AMF table which we put in a shed. In his back garden. For the best part of 8 months I practically lived in that place, only going home to sleep. Over the years it fell into disrepair. Because, it was a shed it was very hot in summer and really cold in winter, on some mornings you could see.. condensation on the balls. Eventually it became unplayable in there. As i didn't I own it. I paid quite a bit towards the table. So I felt I could use it. The end came, when I would find puddles of water on the table cover. Anyway I had to go back to my train journey again. skip forward a couple years. I was able buy my own table. At the time, I had a deal with the wife!! I Found a place big enough, it was in my lounge, that lasted about 3 years. After that I took a break, started playing snooker for a year. And finally me and my brother a found a place for him self, to put a 9ft dynamic ll. In an apartment, again in the front room. Which is kind of small, compared to some rooms. Apart from couple tight spots.main thing is, It's our table. And with all that. The main thing is, I was able to keep playing, doesn't matter what the game is. Unfortunately in life, sh*t happens.once you have the bug to play, its impossible to let it go,when all you think about,is playing. Sorry i was rambling on a bit there.

Congrats on getting a table. I had a pool table growing up and when my mom sold her place I didn't have room in my one bedroom apt. I moved around a couple of times and when I finally bought a house I made sure I had the space for one. I had to wait well over a decade for that to happen.

Thank you that was 5 years ago now. It's been moved twice since. Good luck in your future playing! I'm sure you will be running those racks in no time!! The main thing, I found when I had it in my own house. I didn't appreciate it, as much as I should of done.i still have a 7ft when I'm not off playing the 9ft.so if I want to shoot pool I can.

I know this is a very easy feat for many players on this forum, but I finally ran back to back 9 ball racks. I have been playing consistently since June of last year. I was so close to three in a row I missed one ball when I got froze on the short rail headed up table and that ended my streak. I ran the rest out without issue. Just curious for you average players what's your best run been?
Mine is one. Occasionally. So, in my book, congratulations!!

I broke and ran 3 racks many times. Never 4

That's awesome! One of the things I love about pool is that it has the ability to have you smiling for days when you do something you are proud of. Enjoy, you should quite rightly be very proud of your achievement!
