I took the bike to my boat down I-287 and after 30-40 miles or so I noticed the traffic gettin heavier probably headed to the shore areas and sucks to sit in on a bike in that. I see the New Brunswick sign and remember that Petey Margo is in a hospital in that town. I park the bike and go to reception and ask for a pass to Petey's room. How do you spell it and I tell her Margo. Sorry no patient here with that name but they said maybe at our other hospital in somerset. So I head over there and same deal. Cancelled it all and headed home after lookin at traffic. When I got home I called Petey's Godson and he kinda laughed saying Margo isn't his real name, his real name couldn't be used on a players chart at a tournament years ago wouldn't fit on chart so the director said you're now Margo.. I believe it's Margaritondo..

Get better Petey

Eddie this is very funny. I was just talking a couple weeks ago with Billy Billings (spelling)? and she said how good of friends she and Pete were, and I said I bet you dont know his real name. After looking at me like I was nuts telling her it was Margorotunda she called Pete and said there is some guy in the pool hall telling me what your real name is and after Pete told her that it was ,I had a good laugh. I knew this from years ago from a friend Praying for Pete

Thanks for the story
will pray for pete margaritondo /margorotunda

pete flemming?/danny diliberto/…?…/……margo?…../ ….?…..

A story from the days before the Polish players became big on the tournament scene...now they must use charts with more space? ;)

Wishing the best for Pete...

Here's an interesting tidbit that many may not have known about Petey Margo. See the quote below from the history of Palmer cues. I remember when he did this. He suddenly dropped out of the billiard industry and we were wondering what happened to him. Petey has always been my favorite player --- so charismatic and always ready to shoot the big shots when needed, so when he left, I felt the loss. But it was the right move for him. He did extremely well. In fact, he did return to the game and played several of Paul Sorvino's charity events. We had a lot of fun in those events and I always enjoyed playing with and against him.

Here's the quote:

"In 1981, Peter Balner laid plans for Palmer to become an even larger player in the custom cue niche. Instead, he was convinced by Pete Margo to take a look at the video business. He did, and they became partners in Palmer Video, leaving Ilona in charge of Palmer cue. They were very successful and sold their 46 stores and 300 franchised locations to West Coast Entertainment in 1996."

Helluva character.. Always fun.

I just returned from the hospital and met about 8 or 9 family members in his room.. lotsa tears. yelled at him and told him he never beat me, (we never played).. had an appt with him this week at his favorite restaurant. I stood over him and told him to dig deep.. I had to make some peace with it all.. Pool History lying there.

Sad indeed, but his was a life well lived and he brought energy and class to pool. Only those who saw him compete in 1982 or earlier truly understand just how popular he was with the fans.

I had the pleasure of chatting with him for close to an hour during the Dragon World 14.1 event at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ. He was a delight to be around.

RIP, Pete. Condolences to Pete's friends and family.

Isn't Petey still with us? Eddie was just at the hospital. There's some misinformation floating around on Facebook.

Yes, reports have been conflicting. Mike Panozzo is the source on Facebook. Eddie saw Pete in the early afternoon. I reacted to post #13.
