for those of you not keeping up to date with the world pool master, tournament favorite ronnie alcano was just beat by fabio petroni 8-5. for anybody who has not seen fabio play, he is a former trick shot champion so he tends to be a little reckless at times but he is a really good player. i have had the pleasure of watching him play many times and playing against him a few times as well and when he is on its scary! souquet was also eliminated in the first round so if you ask me i think there is a good chance we will see a petroni/feijen final. i think both of these guys are ready to start having significant impacts on the sport. of course wu and nick van den berg are still in the hunt but i like either petroni or feijen to take it. good luck to all the players
 
I was really impressed with how solid petroni was, I got to see him against one of the asian players in 2005 and he really didn't make any mistakes. I didn't even know of him as a trick shot guy, he seemed quite solid and comfortable.

I'm sad to see souquet get knocked out. He has a sort of blog on his site and once you read his thoughts on past tournaments it sorta makes you root for him in the future. He seems so determined.
 
Yeah ....

Petroni has surprised me 2-3 times now with good matches against tough opponents, but he has got to change his first name because someone else already ruined it .... LOL
 
I saw Petroni play at the US Pro Tour Championship here in L.A. a while back, and was very impressed. He is clearly capable of beating any top player.
 
Petroni played very well in The Allen Hopkins tournment, He had the top americans stuck several times but could not close the matches out. Especially in front of crowds of american fans. Cory was finishing races to 10 in 30minutes or less. He had morris like 6-1, Hernandes, and Had hilly billy stuck but the hillbilly on the hill came through. There was good money up for grabs. I think even Archer was stuck came back 9-10. Best race to 10 with alternate break. The kid can play
 
I thought you were talking about Stefano Pelinga when you said "former trick shot artist". I've never heard Petroni was a trick shot guy. Seems his name has been around awhile for Europeans playing US style pool.
 
yeah haha I love seeing engert do well... even if it's not straight pool. The way he plays, he should be winning titles left and right.
