Phenolic Discs

Not necessarily cue-related, but I thought the cuemakers might be able to answer this best...

For an upcoming project, I'll be in need of a large number of phenolic discs. They need to be 2" in diameter & about 1/16" in thickness. I've searched all over looking for a vendor to supply these but to no avail.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Any plastic supplier should have access to phenolic. 2 inch O.D. can get expensive. I use it to make spindle collets, but not your size.

You'd have to ask when you call, but I think they will cut to size for you (for a fee of course). I have had them do some things for stuff I have bought for work.

They stock this size phenolic, and are capable of cutting on-site.

Buy 1/16" phenolic sheet then cut into circles. How round do the discs have to be? If they need to be perfect in diameter than rough cut them 1/8" over size then finish turn them in the lathe by sandwiching them between two disc slightly smaller in diameter than 2" and turn to size. If this is an option for you but need further explanation send me a pm and I will try to help.

I don't know what you are doing with it but you need to be working with sheet goods not rod as has been suggested. Disks made from rod that thin you could break to pieces with your fingers. Sheet goods in that size are pretty cheap as well. They would be easy to make , how many will you need? Anyone on here can make them for you.

I would tend to agree that sheet goods are most likely the way to go. It would depend on the intended use, and which way you want the fibers to run. My guess is that sliced up rod would be pretty useless to you, as it would be very brittle at that thickness.
