Does anyone know if any of the Philippine professional pool players have any instructional videos? Can someone ask them to make one please i.e. Efren Reyes, Francisco, etc :D

I wonder why none of them produced a DVD so far.
I have seen some raw footage (mobile phone quality) of Django giving instruction, just a couple of drills. When I asked him about making an instructional DVD, he responded "I will think abou it, I need to talk to my manager". These DVDs would be of great demand I'm sure, but probably they just don't want to share the secrets? Or believe it could hurt their private lessons?

Most likely none of them have come out with a dvd because it would say start young, play better players than you at least 8 hours a day for years, and gamble on every game/ set/ match. There is no secret/ silver bullet. Johnnyt

you are right, but I doubt that's all Francisco told one of Russian youngsters (who's parents are rich enough to pay 6 months of instruction). Or that Dennis Orcullo was teaching the same to other Russian kids who visited the Philippines this year. I mean once top Filipinos reach their level through the way you mentioned, they sure have something to tell.

Yes, I'm sure they have a lot to teach. I was really only joking.;). Johnnyt

The good and the bad is: they have so amazingly many excellent players in the phillipines-- and the most we ll never see. They *learn* it the hard way-hard practice and a lot of gambling. The *status* of pool-billiards is very high overthere. But not just in the Phillipines- heard Ralf talking about a asian country he visited and he was impressed how many strong-calibers are running around there in each pool-room. Each pool-room is forced to have one pro there- so you can imagine how many are running around there^^

Back to your topic- you ll be sure able to get very good informations from guys like Francisco or Reyes-- but are they really good instructors? For sure a Professional can show you some things- but in my eyes not many professionals are *natural born* instructors who are able to *detect* and *observe*.

just my opinion,

I think it would be really good if a few players who werent really good instructors would try to be. Locked inside their mind are moves with simple explanations that once they analyze how to tell people the tricks to the moves really mean a lot.
Ive got a friend playing 40yrs plus, awesome player has tons of moves, he does some lessons but his good stuff is only available after you get to a certain level once you get there you can get some really fine stuff. Priceless.

I think that where the Phillipine players are concerned that time will tell and when it does we might find out that they dont overcomplicate the issue and the reason they excel is that they dont. We fight over idious things and they IMO just see things as they are. I think they learn through their experience to reason out ways of looking at thing that are simple and then they are able to do them.
