Well, that might encourage them to put the effort in... Might also encourage Matchroom to rethink the criteria for selection to actually give US players the relevant aspirationsI think first the USA has to prove they can win against Europe, or else what's the point of changing Reyes Cup to be Asia vs winner of MC. We all know it would be Asia vs. Europe every year.
But I suspect if USA manages to win this year and next, they may go that route.
I think Vogel shot himself in the foot deliberately slowing it down, and I think Shaw let him know that at the end of the match...I think a lot of that has to do with Matchroom making the pockets 4 inches. Players are far more robotic now and put a stronger emphasis on PSR or lining up a shot because anyone is liable to miss. I don't think we will see too many players like Shaw, Drago, Strickland, etc. in this modern era with super tight pockets. There's just too much margin for error. Heck, even Vogel and Shaw played slow in their match.
Bring back normal sized pockets. Make pool exciting again.
I think 4" is the way to go. Shot clocks for all matches. It can't be that hard to implement in the age of "tech"
