The easiest test for ivory, particularly for a joint is that the end of the joint should show the cross hatching pattern known as Schreger lines.
Beautiful cue. For my tastes, simple is better and this gets it done. Out of curiosity, what is the cue's length? I have also always wanted a sharp point JW, but every time I see one, they are <58".

My philosophy, in everything, not simply cues, has always been "Less is more..." At the risk of this sounding either pretentious or dumb or both, one of the most memorable things I've ever read is a law of physics called Occam's Razor: "All things being equal, the simplest explanation is almost *always* correct."
So, yeah... keeping it simple. Or trying to...
