Photos

I was hoping for some pics on the main page under the photo gallery but so far there is nothing.

If you're slightly annoyed by my responses then welcome to my world. I would rather not see anything than be teased by what appears to be something that I might have liked if I could actually see it.

I like shots that include the crowd so that I can see if I recognize anyone. It is a simple thing that I enjoy. When I come across something like the "pic" below, it makes me wonder "why did you bother"? I don't know about anyone else but I can't pick out a single player, spectator, or much of anything else for that matter.

That style of art helped me score a high grade on my art midterm. I explained it as simplistic art because an artist travelling doesn't have time to capture all details. The colors, most characters and other details had to be minimized. Not much can be done in a short time. They are commonly referred to as quick sketches, but when the computer does the routine I call it quick photography.

The request photos you are asking me for are not the style I am interested in. But for a quick discussion they are posted. The contrast is between color and detail versus outline in one color. The theory argument is what constitutes a pool player, their outline or the details. The quick shots illustrate the player as the most distinct of all images. The photos illustrate the player as all the details in that particular shot.

I took the photos and I can edit them. However I lean towards different shots for different players. I don't want everyone doing the same pose, that would be too commercial. I am not a commercial artist.

The pool tournament is a great scene and there are many players in the scene. I think when I was shooting I was going for a sense of the road player. I wasn't trying to capture the pool player. The shot with the players in front of an audience to me represents the players standing out in a crowd, not a crowd watching a player. Any shot with multiple players I went strongly for contrast. The Mika and Francisco shot represents the limited engagement that old and young can have. The dotted pics with John and Loree represents the point those players make by coming just like the guys from the Netherlands they make a point of being somewhere and doing something where they are. The shots that hard are to make out like the brightly colored, watercolored or wavy images are exactly the scene I saw, it was clear what they were doing but there was a limited sense of motivations for doing it, which is why the color palette is limited.

If your interested I will pick apart the focus of each shot.

I think maybe you're missing the point. You got a high grade in art class for these types of "photos" and that is great. That kind of stuff is expected in art class but this is not art class. People here would rather see normal photos that allows us to see the people and venue clearly.

If you go back and read through the responses you'll see that most of the people that have posted in this thread feel the same way I do. I'm sure these "photos" would be appreciated on an art forum but on a pool forum we would rather see them as actual photos. Thanks anyway.

You are absolutely right. These are the exact same comments I have heard before. I am now a freelancer.

That is the only to get things done. Requests never work.

I believe you can create an album on the main site, I don't think you need to ask for it to be done. Either way it can be done, I'd like to see you put an album up without all the fluff.

Only if you pay me, uploading files is not a pleasant experience.

sorry but i dont get it?

Are you just experimenting with every single filter in Photoshop?

I bet there are some nice photos under all that crap but its just too hard to see. Post the originals please.

I don't get it either......

I don't have billions of dollars to invest in magazines, movies and commercials to get you to recognize the importance, significance, or power of feeling involved in those scenes.

That is my point.
