Pics of Danny DiLiberto at Betmore's Basement (and a surprise location)

SD,
I'm assuming he is practicing his "breaking and entering" skills, rather than his pool skills since he really has no chance to win on the table.

I warn him that the "Cup" is guarded round the clock by the famous Pinkerton's (well, it's actually Bobby Pinkerton's Lawn, Garden, and Dog Walking service; but those kids....errr...guards...are ferocious).

I have NEVER been beaten by someone from Alaska, so I will assume that the Cup will remain in Betmore's Basement (I have chosen to work on my sharking skills rather than the pool game; so at least the match should be interesting). I will also lay in a large supply of alcoholic beverages, just in case it looks like he can make more than 2 balls in a row (which of course would put him fairly close to my current skill level).

I also hear that he is a light weight. I heard he lost a bundle to Jay Helfert not so long ago only after 2 bottles of Coors Light:rolleyes:

Sunny,
Oops....it looks like you have inadvertantly knocked Mark's action. I am now a PROHIBITIVE favorite (since there is NO world shortage of Coors Light)....I'm heading for the liquor store now. Many thanks, there should be a little jelly coming your way after I demolish him.

Actually, I was hoping to be rewarded by being able to pose a picture "Holding" the Betmore Cup... wow! My hair on my arms just stood straight up just imagining the honor:eek:

Sunny,
When you visit the Louvre, do they let you hold the Mona Lisa?

When King Tut's sarcophagus comes to your museum, do they let you sit in it?

When you visit the Smithsonian, do they let you toss around the Hope Diamond??

What could you be thinking????

Fortunately for you, I do know the current owner of the Betmore Cup; perhaps I could be convinced to put in a good word for you.

You made my day!

Many, many thanks and I shall remember this kind gesture forever. Whatever you need...let me know. I know some people, who's a 4th distant cousine to who knows some people who think they are very important...:D

Funny. I would have thought, given cheffjeff's NPR posts... That he would look abnormal. He looks like some regular dude off the street..

Well, I always remove my horns before allowing photos.

I just heard about this thread last night from a new AZer. I'd like to add that Williebetmore and his lovely wife were great hosts. They provided me with a room to sleep and some food and the famous basement, of course. It isn't a basement...it has windows looking out over some beautiful Indiana woods. More like a lower level heaven.

It was fun waking up and having coffee with Danny Dileberto:eek: , for Pete's sake!! and talking pool and hearing stories about the road and sharing those. Danny was so kind that he gave me a copy of his book and even his DVD.

Then having dinner with Jeanette...twice! She is sooo cool and nice. One of my pool teammates has a thing for her so I thought if I could just get her to sign my BD with her on the cover and mention Michael, he'd get a kick out of it. I had told him I was going on a date with Jeanette, without telling him what my plans were. He thought it was joke. I was just hoping to meet her at the least.

Jeanette heard this story and went full out to help....She not only signed the BD (her copy, I forgot mine that night--der!) to Mike, but the cue ball she's holding in the photo here in this thread is made out to him. And she was just out of surgery and put up with up bangers until about 2:00 am. Cripes, I'd have kicked us all out of there long before that. And her husband, George, was so gracious, too.

Really, I was in shock for most of the weekend.

B-man,
Danny had some tip trouble with his cue, so Hal lent him the Balabushka for the late night session. He is a very generous guy, and has let me hit some balls with it as well.

What cue does Danny play with (I think it appears to have like flame coloured veneers)?

P-man,
Sorry but I don't recall (I'm not really into the whole cue collecting thing). He has had a different cue everytime he visits. If I remember I'll let you know (now I'm thinking Sherm, cuemaker from the Cincinnati area; he posts on AZB, and has played some in the AZB room.....is it Sherm Adamson??? I think it was one of his cues).
