Picture Perfect Strokes...NOT!!

While his stroke certainly is "unorthodox" he gets out, for sure.

And I saw Santos when he first came to the states, and he's always twirled his cue. I'm sure it's a comfort thing. . .

Sorry...I did not mean to insult anyone...I was 100% sure drivermaker would know that hustle....I meant it as a Joke....It was never intended as serious bet....

Yeah, I know that one and also "gotcha's". There will be none of those bets either. :p

D'maker,
Dang, it was pitiful. If someone showed up at our pool hall with a stroke like either one of those guys, there would be a f*&^ing scrum of people fighting to play them. Just shows you can't tell a book by its cover.

P.S. - Favorite golfer's ever = Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson. I wonder how many people's golf games were ruined forever trying to imitate the first two of them (of course Byron was the first perfect swing with the new metal shafts). Let's not even mention Doug Sanders.

.... or Jim Furyk, for that matter.

stephen hendry has a visible wobble in his stroke. (not his arm, but the cue itself wobbles when he pulls the trigger)
since he managed to win 7 snooker titles, its obvious a true stroke is not necessary to good billiards.

And, Mike D is like 6 foot 47 inches tall. His stick is already 60", so I think perhaps the arm movement is a factor of always playing w/ cues that are too short.

I read an article about Mike Davis after he won the Reno open. He mentioned that a lot of players asked him to play for money after watching him stroke the ball. I'm sure he hears about it a lot. Look at Kieth's stroke, very unusual, and he is very successful with it. There's no law that says everyone has to conform. Who knows, maybe in twenty years everyone will be trying to emulate Mike's stroke.

I'm not a golfer any more, but before the doctor told me to quit I played a lot. (6 handicap, no bad, not great) I was a very good putter. My greens in regulation stunk, but I could putt. Everyone commented about my putting stroke though. About a 45 degree open stance, with my back elbow locked into my side. The only thing that moved was my hand, at the wrist. Had a lot of people try it, most said it sucked. Another very individual thing.

Maybe I'll try only moving my wrist in pool? :D

Maybe he was trying to show it off for TV. For most pro's, that was a VERY ornate and beautiful cue. Wonder who made it for him?
He spins the cue about it's axis. I assume he's feeling for the right radial position (radial balance). I'm guessing most of us do a form of this.

His cue is a Paul Drexler.

The only part of your stroke that really matters is from when you strike the cue ball to the point where the cue ball is no longer contacting the tip. If you watch that part of their stroke, it is as solid as any other pro.
