Picture preferences?

Just for the record, my photos are not professionally done and none have ever been photoshopped or had any special lighting set up. I noticed that you have insinuated that they were in the past and I just wanted to set the record straight.

By the way your pics are fine if that's what you are trying to show.

I know that. You have been clear that you take them outside and lay them out under the clouds. My point was that you do a great job of capturing them at a nice angle that highlights them well. Your composition is great.

This is more of a general discussion as to which method comes across better to viewers using our respective approaches as contrasting examples. I admit that I like to see nicely done pictures. I also like to see detail when considering buying something. I am also lazy so I'd like to figure out the best way to control our environment without waiting for the right amount of cloud cover. I like the way you do it which is quick and easy and gets the job done.

I would like to be able to take pix and do nothing more than crop and resize them and put them up on the web. Right now that's what we do but the pix still look a bit rough in my eyes. Sometimes the cases come out true to life and other times they don't.

You do a fantastic job and the cases look extremely desirable in the photos you present. If I were considering a case then you would certainly be at the top of my list just on the photos alone. Of course me being me I'd probably pester you for more detail shots before pulling the trigger.
 
Thank you to everyone who offered their comments both here and in private. I think that the decision is heading in this direction. I will create a little studio setting with light that emulates natural light and we shall learn the proper color settings for each type of case we are taking pictures of. From what I gather the important things are properly setting the white balance and the background for each color of case.

I have a photography club coming sometime soon to shoot our product and teach me the best way to capture the details.

You've been really successful doing what you're doing...if it ain't broken, don't fix it, stick with it...as always, your cases look great.

I got to see a JB case in person for the first time last night.

I'm impressed. It looked fantastic.

Yet another thing for me to work towards acquiring some day in my future.

I, too, very recently finally got to see one of John's cases in person. It was one of his new Tough Love series cases. Beautiful oiled leather, stitching was very, very good...top quality brass fittings and zippers, that awesome UltraPad interior. You can see that these cases will last a lifetime and beyond.
