Pictures of cloth install

These are some pictures of the cloth install. The bed cloth has light and dark stripes that might be kind of hard to see in the pictures. I'm guessing that none of the ripples are suppose to be there on the rails. If I can't find a qualified installer in the area, I'm thinking of re-stretching the cloth myself. It's not that hard, is it? I certainly can get it better than what was done yesterday.

No it is not that hard. Have at it. You will be lucky if there is enough cloth on the rails to stretch it properly.

That's what I'm worried about, not having enough material to grab onto to stretch it properly. The bed cloth pictures shows streaks of lighter and darker areas, which looks worse in real light. I would guess that somebody who does it more often would have better luck in fixing it.

the cloth looks as it is ok, and what you are seeing is the stretch marks from it being pulled. simonis will look like this on the rails.

Having a slight shadow stretch is one thing, having dimples in nose of the cushions along with the stretch shadows is another thing, that's an indication the stapling was placed in line with the stretch, and that's not going to come out in time.

I called the simonis dealer and talked with Phyliss (sp?) and she said realkingcobra might respond. Thank You. What do I need to do to fix this? The installer said he'd come back, but I'd almost rather do it myself since my attention to detail is higher than his and he's not very knowledgeable about installing Simonis cloth.
Can I unstaple the fabric and re-stretch it after the fabric has been trimmed or should I just buy new fabric?
I've got a beautiful room and it's the nicest table around and I was looking for a first class installation. When the WPBA came to Ignacio CO a few weeks ago I played on some of the tournament tables and was really impressed with the cloth. What a difference.
The rails have little depressions where the cloth is to tight and I'm guessing those will not come out over time.
I can see some of the shadow marks diminishing over time, but certainly not the wrinkles.
I'm in Durango CO
Thanks

I might be able to help you, I have a delivery of Diamond tables heading to that area I think late next week:grin:

If your going to try it yourself try this. When you get the rails off the table if he didnt go staple crazy put a new staple in between all the old ones then remove the old ones if he did go staple crazy put a new staple above the old ones then remove them. That way you don't have to restretch it. This will relieve the tension where all the old staples are. And you can tell by the shadows on the bedcloth that he stapled it. if you glue it on you will not have those shadows.

Excellent idea to put in new staples before taking out the old ones. Makes a lot of sense. I don't think he did go staple crazy.

If trying to restaple rails to get the dimples out of the rails, only pull up one leg of the staple that you're going to remove. After pulling one leg up, place another staple in front of that staple, then remove the old staple. What that does is release some of the tension in that one spot without causing it to come loose so that you have to stretch it back again.

These guys are right. It is hard not to show any "shadows" at all on the bed but if stretched and stapled properly, you definitely can do the rails and get it tight without seeing it in the rails. Never staple in line with the stretch. It will be very hard to re-stretch rail cloth that has already been trimmed though. Best of luck.

I just had Simonis 860 put on my table at home and the installer was a great guy that has been doing tables forever (Eric from Brunswick Billiards in Natick, MA).

When he was done I did have these shadow stretch marks on the table and rails which concerned me. He basically said exactly what was said here, that as long as there isn't any dimpling of the cushion that having some stretch shadows is pretty normal and they will fade a little bit over time.

Just wanted to say that I love being able to come to this site and be able to look up any question I have about my table. Thanks to all you mechanics out there that share your knowledge!
