Piloted joint extended

I am thinking of getting a Z shaft for a James White cue that I have. It has a 5/16-14 piloted ivory joint. The standard pilot on the predator shafts is quite short. I was wondering if it could be extended or made to fit like the standard shafts that are made for these types of joint configurations.

I was just thinking that perhaps the shaft could be plugged and then retapped and redone with the insert.

What are my options?

Thank you.

NJ,

Yes, it can certainly be done.

However, it wont make any appreciable difference in the hit.

Once the joint is screwed together and tight, the pilot doesn't really matter.

find a cuemaker that can get a z without the insert or collars.then he can match the rings with your cue as well

You can also order the shaft from Seybert's and I'll build it to whatever specs you provide. I do custom everyday.
