Normal 3/8-10 pins have less thread surface contact than Radial or Ball screw pins. This is because the Radial has rounded threads with tighter fit. Now the Southwest or Martin style of 3/8-10 pins have a flat minor diameter that can have a lot of thread surface contact also. This has become my favorite style pin in the 3/8 size. They are about three times the money of the standard 3/8-10 pins, but for precise shaft alignment or ease of installing in the butt centered and straight, they are hard to beat.
