Pins for joint protector

So I have begun my journey of cue making/tinkering.

I was thinking that making joint protectors would be good practice for threading and putting pins in.

Where does one find pins that are short enough to be used for this application?

If anyone cares to share a source that would be great!


I am taking this very slow and hope to have my first cue done next week (joking)

Another option is to buy the mtrl. by the foot and cut your own.

Cutting that and making it look good are two different things, how does one go about that?

I appreciate the gratitude but I should now ask, how do you intend to install the pins?
Hindsight suggests that the pre-made pins may be your best route.

My thought on that is to create a pin holder out of 3 nuts and a washer (so it can bottom out) which I will glue or weld together. I will mount the pin backwards in that and place it in the tail, and then install like one would put a pin in a butt.

After the pin is installed I would cut the material (wood most likely) to its approx size and shape etc.

along with an airhose to keep things cool, should make quick work of cutting them to length

The only pin you'll find nuts for is the 5/16x18.

I made some with delrin j/p's eons ago ( for me anyway ).
