Places to play Grand Rapids Michigan

I am moving to the Grand Haven/Holland area and would like to know of places to play and weekly tournaments etc. in the area. I require a safe neighborhood and prefer decent equiptment and hospitable(sp?) employees and patrons.

There 3 rooms in Grand Rapids

The Breakroom has all 7' Diamonds

Anazeh Sands West has an assortment of 7' Valley and Diamond, 8' Valley and 9' GC and at least 1 Diamond

Anazeh Sands East


Holland has at least a couple of rooms

Chalky's has 7' and 9'


Breakroom and Chalky's have weekly tournys, not sure of the others.

There is also a billiards supply store in Holland that has hourly rental tables available too.

I believe Chalkys in Holland has shut down. There is a sports bar named Shooters open now though, and the Golden Eight Ball on River Ave is open again in Holland.

People are friendly, staff is O.K. to good, depending on who's working at the time, tables are decent if you know which ones to play on. A lot of the breakrooms tables are getting pretty bad.

You're going to love Holland, as I'm originally from there and its a great town. As for pool, like the others have mentioned, theres Golden 8 and Shooters. Both of which are mediocre but its still relatively decent to play on. As Neil mentioned, I believe Chalky's has shut down. Hope it all works out for you!
