Placing a Table in Front of a Window

Hi all,
I plan on installing a pool table in my basement, but the location will be about 5 feet from a large picture window and I'm worried about balls bouncing and breaking the glass. Any ideas on what to put in front in the front to lessen the chance of the window breaking? Thanks

There are a number of companies that sell a stronger glass for their windows (often advertised as baseball proof, or golfball proof!). If you don't want to do that, you can attach a piece of plexiglass in front of the window, which should protect it about as good as you could want :)

That's a little far for balls to travel but nonetheless, a type of rigid blinds could be used. When partially to all the way closed, they would prevent the ball from reaching the glass. In most cases.

Just don't break or jump toward the window.

I have windows just over 5 feet from my table on two sides. Never a problem.

I'd also be concerned about the uv rays from the window, even indirect ones. Not only do uv rays damage cloth and rubber, but they fade the color from the wood on the side towards the window. A good uv film on the window may even help protect it from breaking.

A picture window in the basement?

Any kind of window covering put down when playing ought to take care of it.

I wouldn't worry about it, you'll probably break it with your cue anyway.:grin-square:
