Plain model cues,$1000-$1500 retail price, who is best custom cuemaker?

I have an Arthur plane cue, it played really well. I have not touched it for about 15 years, I took it out of the case a few months ago to find out that both the butt and shaft have warped.
Not recommended…
to be fair, i think many plain jane customs that sat for that long could warp
chinese imports however can sit in half open barns for a decade and be straight

Jim Pierce is another to consider. I don’t have one but I’ve seen a few around my area. He does an excellent leather wrap. If I ever got one, it would have to be with a leather wrap I think.

My experience is these level of cues are made in the shop by someone other then the owner. So for me it is hard to justify the price.

Cody Cash, PK Custom Cues, will make a great cue in this $ range. On his FB page is a pic of a beautiful birdseye merry-widow with nice ring-work for $1000. Super builder and super guy to deal with.

You talking about this one?

This Jim Pierce was listed for $1775 and sold just a bit ago with some fancy copper work, very nice fire cocobolo and his excellently done leather wraps:

$600 for a 6 point Carmeli? How many years ago was that?
8 points... about 16-17 years ago
it was used, some dings at the end of the butt and the shaft joint collar finish was a bit shattered. There is a blemish in the maple forearm that I guess was discovered when turning down so it was priced down.
Still a monster player, took the spot as my main player from my schon.

This is the one he built for me and I got to pick the woods and specs:
